A George III mahogany chest, of two short and three long drawers, on bracket feet, 93cm H x 95cm W x 51cm D CONDITION REPORT: There is a section of moulding lacking to the left hand edge. The handles are not original. The bracket feet appear lighter in colour in the online image than they are in real life but may not be original. General light age wear patina throughout.
An 18th century Welsh elm Coffer Bach, the moulded hinged lid above an arrangement of two half-width and one single further full-width drawer below, raised on short bracket feet, (in two parts), 63cm (widest) CONDITION REPORT: From the photographs you will see staining, scratches etc., commensurate with age, the right hand hinge has been replaced at some stage, the left hand hinge looks like it has new screws at some time, the lock is gone from the top hinged section, the locks are also gone from the top half width drawers although the lock is present on the lower full width drawers, some rotting/woodworm to base section moulding, rear right hand leg away (missing), left hand return bottom moulding (with bracket feet) missing, generally quite “duffed” up and in a poor condition ready for complete restoration, some moulding away from where the top section meets the base, the top section is original to the base and so are the drawers in our view, the metalwork has been on there for a long time and may well be original, waist mouldings again is exhibiting prevalent rot/woodworm and the back is noted to have two lighter vertical strips with three holes (see images). In the Auctioneers opinion this elm Coffer Bach is ripe for complete restoration and once done would result in a nice chest. The woodwork is of an overall pleasing good general colour and patination.
An unusual 18th century French Canadian (possibly Quebec) pine Side Cabinet, the moulded top above two doors, each with central panel depicting a decorative motif of a raised lozenge flanked by smaller raised triangular spandrels, the doors enclosing shelves, raised on stile feet, (replaced top/restorations), 116cm wide x 50cm deep x 89cm high CONDITION REPORT: Pine quite obviously has scratches, chips and some splits etc., commensurate with age (see images), in our opinion the top of the piece has been replaced at some stage several years ago and although the piece is of general very good overall colour and patination the lower frieze below two drawers appears to be slightly lighter although we are happy that it has been there probably since it was originally made also replaced shelves to the inside.
