Scuffs, scratches and abrasions. Surface dirt with discolouration to the varnish. Thinning to the paint wth retouching evident in places. The lighter area of the beard also fluoresces. The rest of the canvas is obscured by a thick layer of varnish which makes reading difficult and may obscure further restoration.
