A Chinese natural and red stained opium bed, having carved and pierced panels decorated Sage and other figures, exotic birds, Dogs of Fo, and foliage, on shaped bracket feet, 226 cm wide x 149 cm deep x 214 cm high See illustration Condition report Report by RB Generally good, having been in storage for sometime, only the front has the red painted and gilt decoration, the sides and back in a darker wood state. There are four holes approx. 3.5 cm diameter to the interior corners, probably for a pole and curtains, the top rear rail which forms part of the canopy has been reduced slightly in length, probably for it to go into a recess or a small room, and is only really noticeable because it is a much lighter colour wood. The interior of the canopy has panelled and pierced decoration, with a few splits, with some minor splits to the front, and general wear as one would expect. From a Somerset country house now undergoing refurbishment. Report by MW Yes, the bed can be taken apart into several sections for transportation.
