Comprised of: 1) Single breasted, Austrian dark blue wool officer or diplomat's tailcoat with a black stand up collar and cuffs. Blue velvet ground trim collar, cuffs with silver and gold foliate embroiding finished with fleurs-de-lis symbol and false pockets. Similiar embroidery on the pocket flaps. Heavy bullion embroidered on front and back with nine flat two - piece silver buttons bearing armorial device on front consisting of crown/shield bearing rampant lion. Buttons backmarked to Vienna. Black quilted lining with left breast pocket. L shaped tear, 1" x 1 - 1/2" on left shoulder (repaired). Light fraying to collar and cuffs. Fraying and loss to collar lining. There is also a small hole between lower two buttons. Otherwise very good. 2) Diplomatic or Court Dress Coat. Single breasted with hook and eye closure. Standing collar, cuffs, pocket flaps and skirts edged with 3/4" wide metallic lace. Pocket flaps, cuffs, collar and front breasts embroidered with floral devices in gold. Sleeves and skirts are a slightly lighter shade of blue and are probably later replacements. Some separation between the lining and collar on upper edge. Some loss to embroidery work. Otherwise very good condition.
This lot is of Frederick Remington’s Cowboy, which depicts a horse with three of his legs on the ground. The cowboy rider turning his head over his shoulder to gaze at what is behind him. The rider holds onto the reigns with both hands as the horse’s head bends down towards his legs. The cowboy is dressed in his traditional cowboy garb with a cowboy hat and bandana around his neck. The horse, in this composition, appears to be a slightly lighter shade of bronze than the body of the cowboy. However, both display high detail shown in the cast. On the base of the bronze, Frederick Remington’s name is engraved with gold lettering. The bronze is situated on top of a piece of rectangular marble with a gold colored plaque.
Curved blade with large single fuller, stamped “Columbia, S.C.” on left side at top. Thick copper D-shaped guard with tapered wood grip. Good condition, blade has a heavy brown patina with scattered areas of light pitting, edge has several nicks and bends. Guard has a mellow patina and some scattered marks from use. Manufactured in 1906. This early pistol features the high polish factory blue finish with bright lighter blue finish small parts. Has the early Colt black hard rubber grips with Colt pony and "Colt" with a scalloped border. Left side slide has the early pony and circle at rear. Overall this pistol retains approximately 90% original factory finish. Some thinning on front grip strap, rear grip strap is grey patina, brilliant fire blue on safety and sides of trigger, grips are excellent to near mint. Balance of pistol has just the usual high edge contact wear on slide and muzzle. Has perfect action and has a strong near mint bore. Round steel smoothbore barrel with patent breech and bayonet lug on top, near muzzle. Flat lockplate with rounded tail marked "1829/US" vertically and in center "W.L. EVANS/V. FORGE", converted to percussion for use in the Civil War. Standard steel Model 1829 furniture. Full length walnut stock, left side marked with two cartouches. Steel ramrod. Stock is inscribed vertically on left side of buttstock "J.V. Collamore", who was in the Pennsylvania 57th Regiment that fought in the Civil War, including at Gettysburg. Collamore Born July 5, 1832 in Hanfords Landing, New York and died January 14, 1916 in West Unity, Ohio. Served in the 57th Pennsylvania Infantry as a Hospital Steward. Enlisted January 7, 1863 and was discharged November 11, 1864. He enlisted a few weeks after the Battle of Fredericksburg and was discharged just after the Battle of Boydton Plank Rd. Based on his enlistment dates, he fought at the Battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Bristoe, Mine Run, The Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Deep Bottom, Reams Station, and Peebles Farm. Good, as found condition, barrel and lock retain a heavy brown patina with some scattered pitting, markings very good. Bolster filled with lighter metal due to clean-out hole. Inexpensive simple sword by D.W. Forbes. Small rounded doorknob cap stand on a flat pommel that is octagonal shaped with square corners. The guard is fairly thick and stamped at the bottom and on the quillion. On the under-side of the guard in a rectangular cartouche is "D.W. Forbes" in script. The grips are ivory with long column reeds, the blade is straight with a fuller in the center and engraved patriotic motifs. Hilt: 5-3/4”. Total: 35-1/2”. Copy of "American Silver-Hilted Revolutionary and Early Federal Swords by Daniel Hartzler", featuring this sword will be included. Sword is featured on page 520, figure 470. Good condition; blade retains a dark patina with some lighter areas and scattered areas with heavy pitting, especially on edge and spine. Traces of blue finish in some areas, some wear to engraving. Hilt very good with great markings and some dark areas and light pitting from tarnish. Grip has a yellow patina with a few minor chips and two large age cracks showing separation and running horizontally. Blade Length-29 - 3/4"; Overall Length-35 - 1/4";
Heavy rifled octagonal barrel with indistinct signature on top flat and steel rib with silver ferrules mounted below. Flat stamped engraved percussion lockplate and hammer marked in center "P.S.N. & CO. / WARRANTED". Partially figured maple half stock with plain silver furniture including double spur trigger with double set triggers, flat shaped sideplate and inlays in each side of forend. Very good condition; barrel retains a dark brown patina with lighter edges and heavy pitting around breech. Rib below barrel is loose. Lock retains a dark brown patina with some pitting around bolster and on hammer. Stock is excellent as refinished with one crack through sideplate. Silver furniture unpolished. Two stage smoothbore barrel with indistinct signature in script on top near breech. Flat stamp engraved flintlock lockplate marked "TRYON / PHILADA". Extensively engraved brass furniture including four piece pierced patchbox engraved with scrolls, flowers and checkered panels. Dated 1821 on the finial. Engraved brass comb, wearplate, toeplate and forend wearplate. Brass sideplate engraved with scrolls around checkered panels, forend decorated with four engraved fish on each side and teardrop silver inlays between each. Vacant oval silver wrist escutcheon and engraved patriotic eagle on inlay above cheekpiece and silver teardrops on each side of wrist. Small brass wearplate on cheekpiece and small brass propeller inlay below. Left side of buttstock decorated with a large four point inlaid brass flower with engraved silver center. Full length figured maple stock with Roman nose and checkered wrist, incised carving ending in scrolls on each side of forend. Wooden ramrod. Good condition; barrel retains a brown patina with some areas darker than others, some marks on each side of barrel. Lock has been professionally reconverted and retains a dark brown patina. Brass shows some wear and some scattered marks from use, engraving is excellent. Stock is good with a few small pieces of replaced wood on left side and a 7-1/2" piece towards muzzle on right side. Checkering shows heavy wear, otherwise very good with some lighter areas from wear and scattered marks from use. Rifled steel four-stage barrel is unmarked and has diminutive engraved brass and silver front sight surrounded by two engraved bands and grooved barrel tang. Early English rounded flintlock, marked "STANTON" in center, unbridled pan. Engraved brass furniture includes open ended nosecap, two piece sideplate, faceted trigger guard bow with engraved folk-art flower, single large ramrod ferrule and butt cap with engraved portrait of an Indian, similar to those seen on Allentown guns. Brass wire inlay along spine and around lock and sideplate. Figured maple sock with raised carving around lock cavity and sideplates, terminating on both sides with a teardrop. Wooden ramrod. Very good condition; barrel and lock retain a dark patina with some light pitting and scattered marks from use. Original flintlock configuration. Trigger guard has been repaired and has a screw in front of bow. Brass retains a spotted dark patina with some lighter areas. Stock very good with a few age cracks and scattered marks from use. Unmarked, two-stage brass cannon barrels with rounded flint locks and typical engraved French brass furniture. Walnut stocks with carved panels around locks and sideplates and relief carved foliage behind barrel tangs. Wooden ramrods. Good condition, locks have been professionally reconverted, now retaining grey patina with some lighter areas. Barrels have applied black finish otherwise unpolished and furniture retains dark unpolished patina. Stocks very good with a few scattered marks and minor chips. Manufactured in 1906. It is referred to as the military style square frame with lanyard loop. Features the round case colored hammer, the checkering is on the forward area of the slide, has the early pony and circle at rear, right side of frame stamped Model 1902. This pistol features the early high polish finish, with lighter blue small parts with near mint black hard rubber Colt logo grips. The magazine is full high polish blue with no patent stamp. Pistol remains in beautiful all original condition retaining approximately 85-90% of the factory blue, with the exception of the rear grip strap which is basically grey patina and the front strap is gun metal grey mixed with blue. Slide and muzzle show average high point contact wear. Grips are near mint. Fire blue on screws and sides of trigger. Razor sharp legends. 90% case colors on hammer. Fine action and near mint bore.
