From the 11th century onward, they are found in the Levant, especially in Syria and Lebanon, and typically worn by Druze brides. The headdresses in this lot lack the conical shape, showing a greater affinity in style to another Levantine bridal headdress called tarbush. Raised on a short plinth base, with a rectangular opening to reveal a candle holding space, and two circular stumped handles, with a chimney-looking top. Measuring approx. 21cm x 13cm. Printed 'WB 148/21' to the underside.
