An 18th century oak dresser, the three tier boarded plate rack (cut down) over three drawers and two fielded arched panel cupboard doors flanking a centre panel, on squat stile supports, 169 cm wide x 182 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Although essentially period, this piece has many alterations throughout, so perhaps not for the purist. The top is believed to be associated and certainly proportionally speaking on the short side, but generally in reasonable order. Appears to have had some kind of deliberate ageing / denting to the front uprights, in the form of dents in unlikely areas. Basically in good order. the base has some patches and discolouration to the top and there is a large split between the two planks due to shrinkage. The drawers have replacement brass swan neck handles and are the second or third set to have graced the drawers. The cupboard doors have several holes around the H hinges which are replacements. the panels to the doors have lighter areas to the edge, again suggesting shrinkage. the centre panel has a large split vertically top to bottom. Drawer linings appear to have been replaced. Interior shelf probably a replacement. Side panels with vertical splits to centre top to bottom. Moulding to the base of the piece with scratching and white paint marks left hand side. Stile feet appear to have been cut down.
