BARNARD (ALFRED), NOTED BREWERIES OF GREAT BRITAIN AND IRELAND, 4 vols, black and white illustrations and advertisements, green cloth with gilt lettering, London, Joseph Causton & Sons, c1890 (4) Condition Report: Bindings with general shelf wear and rubbing. Top and bottom of spines with slightly heavier rubbing / squashing with some rubbing through to the base colour of the cloth in small parts. Vol 1 spine and back board with a lighter / blotchy appearance from old damp blooming. Rubbing to the long spine edges on Vol 4 with a very slight fray just stating in three small 0.5cm areas. Internally patterned end papers with damp staining, and also to all title pages. Internally generally clean with expected light age toning to pages and perhaps odd fox mark here and there. Some pages a little loose at the gathering in parts.The hinges are firm and there is no splitting down the internal gutters of the end papers.Extra images uploaded 28/02/2025.

The folding map has been reattached down the centre fold – there is a visible torn join where the map has been reattached to a later paper strip. The map has two repair strips to the back some loss to the fold join in Africa. A hole in a paper on the Nile. Other repaired tears at edge. The left-hand fold of the map does not open fully, appears to have been glued. Attention possibly needed here. Map trimmed at the top and bottom outside of the engraved area. Map as found. Pages with expected age toning, some foxing and general marks. Page numbering appears ok. Unknown if this book calls for more than the additional engraved title, map and smaller engraved plate.The large folding map and additioanl title are a slightly lighter colour and feel of paper to the rest of the pages - may not be original / from another copy.

A PAIR OF ART DECO ARMCHAIRS SECOND QUARTER 20TH CENTURY Leather covered hardwood 86cm high, 75cm wide 80cm deep  Provenance: The Royal Box, Newbury Race Course Acquired from Robert Kime, London Condition Report: Leather upholstery is distressed with extensive wear, cracking and surface loss particularly on the seat cushion, armrests and edges. Significant scuffing and abrasions are visible, exposing a lighter tan underlayer beneath the black leather finish. Signs of age-appropriate wear and use throughout. Both sides of one chair and one side of one chair have large rips revealing inside of chair. Back of one chair has large rips revealing inside of chair (frame and back seat).
