Vintage signed 8 x 10 photograph, the slightly out-of-focus candid image showing Bankhead in a half-length pose wearing a dark fur coat and with a cigarette in one hand. Signed in black fountain pen ink with her name alone to a lighter area of the image. An ink annotation in the hand of a collector to the verso indicates that the signature was obtained in person on 26th October 1942. VGAt the time of signing the present photograph Bankhead was performing in the original stage production of The Skin of Our Teeth which had opened at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut, on 15th October 1942, before moving to Broadway´s Plymouth Theatre on 18th November. For her performance as Sabina, Bankhead won the Variety Award for Best Actress as well as the New York Drama Critics Award for Best Actress of the Year.

All of the postcard photographs are bound together in the original presentation booklet with decorative paper wrappers, and one additional unsigned postcard photograph is included in the set, the image depicting Belyayev and Leonov seated together in half-length poses and engaged in conversation as they review some documents on the table before them. It is unusual to find such sets of postcards in their original bound form as the majority of similar signed postcard photographs which are encountered today have been separated from the booklets at their perforated edges.
