WWII – Women Fire fighters good group of approx 27 mostly gossipy letters from a woman fire fighter to a friend^ but mentioning her activities in dealing with fire attacks and also describes a V1 Rocket attack on London: ‘.we had the sirens on Sunday we don’t get them very often now^ with the F Bombs coming in from the east coast they don’t seem to reach as far as us^ which is a good think and these rockets they say are worse than the F Bombs.I managed to find my way to the main line train to Waterloo and I was seated quite comfortably in it waiting for it to go when the young lady opposite said ‘oh^ here one comes’(meaning a doodle-bug of course) and I could hear it quite plainly. There were two women next to me which I don’t think had been to London before and one of them got up to run but where to I don’t know. I just held my breath. All of a sudden the engine stopped so we just sat there and hoped for the best. The young lady opposite said ‘They sometimes glide quite a long way.
