Nameplate JOE ex Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0ST built in 1899 as works number 2431. Delivered new to J. Hill & Co Middlesbrough, it moved in 1914 to Sir Hedworth Williamson's lime works Ltd at Fulwell Sunderland as was then named Joe. It is thought that the nameplate may have been used on an earlier engine which was withdrawn in the same year as it is widely known that nameplates from earlier engines at this works were transferred. Cast brass with ornate ends, face restored measures 27in x 7.25in. The other nameplate from this locomotive is in the Doncaster Grammar School Museum.
Worksplate AVONSIDE ENGINE CO BRISTOL 1421 1900 ex 0-6-0 ST originally built for and delivered to the Burry Port & Gwendraeth Valley Railway and named Pontyberem and numbered 2. The locomotive was sold in 1914 to Llewelyn (Nixon) Ltd, later Mountain Ash Colliery, and numbered 11 in 1962. It was transferred to Penrikyber Colliery and was withdrawn around 1970 and is now preserved at Didcot.
Diesel worksplate THE HUNSLET ENGINE CO LTD LEEDS 175HP No HE 9163 1987. Ex 20 tonne 900mm gauge battery rack adhesion 0-4-0 locomotive running number RA2. Delivered to the Channel Tunnel group and used during the construction of the tunnel. Oval cast brass in as removed condition measuring 11.5in x 8in.Together with a cast brass Hunslet radiator plate from one of these locomotives. A plate from one of the locomotives that worked on the most significant engineering feet of the 20th Century.

Babbage (Charles) The Exposition of 1851; or, Views of the Industry, the Science, and the Government of England, first edition, half-title, ex-library copy with ink stamp to title and book label, original cloth, spine slightly faded and with small nick at head, cloth chemise and slip-case, [Tomash & Williams B24; Van Sinderen 61; Norman 95; Origins of Cyberspace 67], 8vo, John Murray, 1851.⁂ "Babbage had been proposed to head the Industrial Commission for the Great Exhibition of 1851, but was rejected because of his early radicalism and his conflicts with the government over the Difference Engine. Resentful over his treatment, Babbage decided to publish a book on the Exhibition to set before the public the ideas that he otherwise would have presented to the Exhibition's governing committees. Babbage's Difference Engine, although certainly one of the engineering marvels of the nineteenth century, was not included in the Exhibition" (Norman).
