Lot 1055

1928 Morris Cowley 2-seater and dickey Reg.no. YW 7841 Chassis no. 259534 Engine no. 292201 William Morris was competing head on with Austin, for the same market, and produced equally good solid cars with great reliability. In 1926 the Bullnose radiator was replaced by a flat version in a new version of the Cowley. By 1931 over 200,000 had been produced in various body styles. The car we have here was purchased from an elderly gentleman in 1985, who had owned the car for a number of years. About 24 years ago, the current owner took the car off the road, following a few years of use, pending some restoration. The vendor states that the engine is free and the car is in overall good condition, although will require some restoration. It is sold with V5c and is an ideal candidate for VSCC events, being both light to use and a straightforward restoration. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1056

1965 Daimler 2.5 V8 Saloon Reg.no. BUF 591C Chassis no. PIA 7140 8/W Engine no. 7A 7601 Jaguar, by adding Daimler to their fleet, gained more than one benefit. The V8 engine designed by Ed Turner, was truly great, and the company wanted to appeal to a more upmarket clientele. The Daimler also tried to appear less rugged than its Jaguar counterpart, therefore attempting to win over the women drivers at its launch in 1962. It was only available with a bench seat initially and then the model received upgrades in 1967. Our vendor advises us that the car has a truly excellent interior, described as ‘almost as new’. Much money has been spent on this part of the car with a new wood trim set, Connolly leather seats and a good quality new headlining, all carried out in 1996/1997. The car is sold with what can only be described as an extensive history file, covering 1977 to the present, with MOT certificates from 1997. This six owner car has a current mileage of 60,336, which is believed absolutely correct. The car last had a major engine overhaul in 2006 at 55,000 miles. This is a great example of an instantly recognisable car, which has had many thousands spent in recent years. The new owner will reap the rewards for years to come. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1057

1928 Citroen 12/24 De Luxe Saloon Reg.no. Chassis no. 504968 Engine no. 4687 YK Andre Citroen was born and educated in Paris at the end of the 19th Century and was to rival the greats in car production. The company produced the first mass-produced fully equipped car in Europe ready for the road after WWI and this formed the basis for production throughout the 1920s. In 1926 Citroen opened a factory in Slough to produce the B12 model and a year later the B14 followed which was called the 12/24 in England. This car was originally registered DE 6455 on the 28th April 1928 in Pembrokeshire and this original registration number was recovered about five years ago. The car has since been resident in Ireland since 2009 and has now returned to the UK. This is a typical Citroen with comfortable ride anti-roll springs at the rear and scuttle petrol tank. The engine is a 1539cc side valve propelling a De Luxe four-door saloon with slam shut doors. We understand that this car was found in a barn in Sussex in the 1980’s and the car was rubbed down and re-painted in its original colours, with no repairs needed. The original engine was rebuilt in 2001 with minor repairs carried out. The electrics were converted to 12-volt which would have been essential when it competed in the 2006 Measham rally. It has also been used at several other VSCC events and such saloons are a rare sight indeed. There is very little paperwork with this car and it will require re-registering in the UK, following its time in Ireland. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1059

1927 Austin 20/4 Ranelagh Limousine Reg.no. PN 22 Chassis no. 6P2 32S/4 Engine no. P5 15628 The Austin 20 was introduced in 1918 and continued in production until well into the 1930’s. In the 1920’s there were people who believed the four-cylinder Twenty comparable with if not superior to the equivalent Rolls-Royce. The Austin 20/4 range (as it became known after the introduction of the 6-cylinder model in 1927) included several saloon models such as the Mayfair, Carlton, Ascot and the top of the range Ranelagh. Amongst this range, some saloons were quite lofty and these unfairly gave the impression that all vintage Austin saloons were as such, however the Carlton, Ascot and Ranelagh were just 6’ 4” tall giving a real elegance to their appearance. These vintage Austins were highly regarded at the time giving years of service and value for money, as all Austins continue to do. Nothing can compare to the comfort and ride of a vintage Austin 20 saloon, with the added bonus of extra security. The Ranelagh was the flagship of the vintage Austin 20 range, with higher quality fittings, on the longer 11’4” chassis. This is certainly a highly impressive car that has been known to the Vintage Austin Register for many years, in long-term ownership with the Bidwell-Topham family. Prior to this the car had been owned by author J. Wilton on Jersey, of ‘White Star Line’ and ‘Titanic’. This car was little used between 1973 and 2007 but then fully re-commissioned by the current Austin enthusiast owner. There are a selection of letters and motor diaries confirming the cars history. PN 22 is an excellent example of both marque and model. A rare opportunity to acquire a rare Austin. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1060

1971 Morris Minor 1000 Traveller Reg.no. XJU 347J Chassis no. MAWSD 1280788F Engine no. Unknown Is there anything left to say about these iconic British motorcars. Even today they are regarded with great affection, whatever the model. The original principles of economy together with reliability and longevity are special even in the modern era. The Traveller version gave so many more options than the saloon in terms of carrying capacity. The current vendor has owned this example for twelve years and in that time has covered many miles including four trips to the Orkney Islands. The car has recently been overhauled by a local engineering and bodywork firm, some welding has been carried out and some of the wood has been replaced. The car passed its MOT last month and has a tax disc until April 2014. There are still areas that require some improvement however this is a good car that has been an excellent servant for the current owner. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1061

1971 Ford Capri 1300L Mk.1 Reg.no. t.b.a. Chassis no. BBE CLM 83226 Engine no. LM8 3226 When introduced in 1969, Ford’s intention was to reproduce in Europe the success they had had with the North American Ford Mustang. The Capri was mechanically based on the Cortina and although a fastback coupe, Ford wanted the Capri to be affordable for a broad spectrum of potential buyers. To help achieve that it was available with a variety of engines. This superb example has been stored in a museum in Malta, over the past 25 years and has now been recently re-commissioned with new hoses since its return to the UK. It has covered only 46,000 miles from new with its sole previous owner having been sold new in Malta in 1971. It has been repainted at some stage in its life probably due to the strength of the sun of that location. Sadly there is no other paperwork other than the V5c, however our vendor describes this example as being the ‘very best’. These Mk.I Capris are becoming very scarce in this condition and are fast becoming very highly sought after. This example has to be seen and represents excellent value for money and almost certainly an excellent investment. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1062

1950 Morgan 4/4 Four Seater Tourer Reg.no. KYN 113 Chassis no. 1970 Engine no. Q562E The early Morgans were fitted with a 1,122cc Coventry Climax engine but in 1939 this was superseded by a Standard Special 1,267cc overhead valve engine. This car was in single ownership until 2003, since being supplied new in 1950 by Naylor and Root of Wandsworth. We understand that the car was used for family holidays in the 1950’s and 1960’s, then taken off the road in 1970 and placed in storage. Registered new in January 1950, this 1949 car is sold with its original handbook and sales brochure. It was registered new by the garage and then quickly sold, so although in effect one owner until 1970, officially there were two, supported by the original buff and RF60 log books. The current owner purchased this true ‘barn-find’ in 2003 with a view to a full restoration. Due to time commitments this has sadly not yet happened and this highly original and well preserved motor car awaits a new owner to bring it back to life. It has a current V5c and a selection of bills dating from the 1960’s from Morgan specialist F.H. Douglas. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1063

1978 MG B Roadster Reg.no. BYB 208S Chassis no. GHN5-458036G Engine no. 22161 The MG B was introduced in 1962 with new monocoque construction, which was an all-new concept that gave the benefits of lightness and handling qualities. The launch model was powered by a 1,298cc three bearing crankshaft engine and in 1964 this was replaced by a five bearing version which was to give the model better reliability. A large proportion of the 400,000 cars produced, are still roadworthy and enjoyed regularly. This example is a very low mileage car (approximately 35,000 from new) that has lots of history and bills including the original bill of sale, when it was supplied new by Foundry Garage in Mark, nr. Highbridge, Somerset. This garage obviously maintained the car in the early years as there are a selection of bills for general works carried out by the garage. Within the file are a selection of early tax discs and MOT certificates and later invoices relating to the fitting of a ‘lead-free’ cylinder head. The car was last MOT’d in 2008 and may require some gentle re-commissioning, although there are no known faults. To find such a low mileage car in this condition is rare and this is an opportunity to acquire a very good example of a fun British sports car. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1064

1930 Morgan Aero Super Sports Reg.no. DV 4197 Chassis no. M88 Engine no. LTOW2/1/Y11601/S Morgan established a sporting reputation via competition such as winning the 1913 Cyclecar Grand Prix at Amiens in France. This inspired the ‘Grand Prix’ model of 1913 to 1926, from which evolved the ‘Aero’ and ‘Sports’ models. First registered on the 7th of March 1930, this water cooled Jap powered Morgan has undergone an extensive restoration and some alterations over the years. In 1963 the original 2-speeder chassis was replaced with a 3-speeder gearbox and chassis by D. Gibson. Between 1986 and 1988 over £2,000 was spent on the body, chassis and upholstery. The restoration was only completed recently, with certain modifications from standard. It has been converted to magneto ignition and 12 volt electrics. The headlights and rear lights were replaced with double filament bulbs and wiring permitting the activation of brake lights and emergency flashers if required. The current owner has replaced the master and slave cylinders on the Morris 8 front wheel braking system and re-established a drum brake on the rear wheel only (hand brake only). The fuel and oil tanks have been refurbished and all fuel and oil lines have been replaced, alongside a new fuel pump and filter. The Amal carburettor and cable systems have been reconditioned and the high level exhaust system has been replaced by a low level ‘Dog-Eared’ configuration stainless steel system. There is a new patterned aluminium dashboard installed and original type front wings. The four wheels have been sandblasted and repainted in two-pack. The tyres and tubes are also new. The engine is left as original. The result is a superb and highly useable Aero 3-wheeler that has had £5,500 spent on parts alone. It is sold with V5c and there are some bills available to support works carried out. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1067

1948 Triumph 1800 Roadster Reg.no. EET 37 Chassis no. TRD 1534 Engine no. TRD 1534 This model was the first post war offering from Triumph, appearing in 1946, with an engine capacity of 1,800cc. Sometime in 1948 the engine capacity was increased to 2 litres and the model was only produced for a total of three years. The car was quite unusual in design with no running boards and using a Standard Motor Company engine. This 1948 example is finished in deep red with contrasting red leather interior and carpets, with black mohair hood. The car is offered for sale by its current owner having been in the same ownership for the past 37 years. The car has been maintained to the highest standard with no expense spared. In recent years the Roadster has benefitted from a complete new interior trim and hood, and a major mechanical overhaul. At this time all the brightwork was re-chromed. The car has a comprehensive document file that includes buff log books and many invoices supporting the works carried out. This Roadster represents a top example of this desirable and appreciating marque, in very sound and solid condition. The car is ready to drive and enjoy with a current MOT and everything working. It also benefits from a tastefully installed period heater. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1068

1925 Singer Ten Tourer Reg.no. PE 1710 Chassis no. 1943 Engine no. G1920 Car production began for Singer in 1905 with a 15hp machine and over the next six or seven years the company persisted with larger engined models. After WWI the company concentrated on the 10hp model and these affordable cars were not only roomy but light on the steering due to there being only rear wheel brakes. This open tourer model has formed part of the Colyford Motor Museum for the past ten years or so and has not run in this time. We are led to believe that prior to this, the car had been in regular use as a wedding car. Little is known of the car’s history and mechanical condition although it appears in good useable condition. There is a colour differential between the body and bonnet, but otherwise the car presents well. At the very least the car will require fully re-commissioning but will be very rewarding once on the road. It is sold with current V5c and an earlier V5c. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1069

1964 Ford Cortina Mk.I 1500 Super Reg.no. 656 WYD Chassis no. VIN 184D068951A Engine no. 116E99991 Ford Cortinas arrived on the scene in 1962 and was by far Britain’s best-selling car throughout the 1970’s. Approximately 5 million 2/4-door cars and estate versions were made, the first models were 1,193cc rising to 1,500cc. Customers tuned and raced these cars in all forms and engine sizes. This example has only had two previous owners and we are advised that there is an extensive maintenance history and invoices for works carried out. It was originally owned by a lady driver and it was used to make local shopping trips around her home town of Minehead, Somerset. It was sold in 1980 having completed just 18,000 miles. The last owner was a true enthusiast and he bought the car in 1980 as an addition to his private collection of vehicles. It quickly became a favourite of the owner and was put to good use as a family car. This included touring all over Britain and parts of France. The Cortina was eventually retired from regular use in 1989 and placed in storage having completed 83,200 miles. The Cortina remained in storage until April 2013 when it was fully serviced and MOT’d. From 1989 to 2010 the car was fully maintained and the owner kept a detailed diary of all work carried out. There is also a folder containing all the MOT certificates from 1969, some invoices and the original handbook. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1071

1976 Triumph Stag Coupe Reg.no. LOR 906R Chassis no. LD 42217A Engine no. LF 042265HEA Triumph Stags came on the scene between 1970 and 1978, with its coachwork giving a choice of a closed or open car. Most were three litre V8 coupled to an automatic gearbox. The car had good styling and was competing with rivals such as Mercedes. The Stag featured power steering and electric windows as standard. The present owner inherited this example from a deceased estate and it is described as in good to excellent all round condition. It has covered little mileage over the past few years but the car has always been garaged and maintained. It had a new soft top about five years ago and is sold with a factory hard top. It is MOT’d until February and starts easily. It is sold with V5c. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1072

Morris 2-door Sports Reg.no. Unknown Chassis no. 262-19 Engine no. N/A This is an interesting aluminium body on what is believed to be a Morris 8 chassis. The body is of high quality and is certainly coachbuilt. The dashboard is in place and when restored this will be a smart looking motorcar, which will be quite desirable when complete. It will be very interesting to research the history and establish the exact provenance. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1074

1950 Bentley Mark VI Standard Steel Sports Saloon Reg.no. 946 YUN Chassis no. B188HR Engine no. B94H The Mk.VI Bentley arrived in the marketplace during a time of austerity, with Britain still on rationing and suffering financially. These early cars were powered by a 4.2 litre straight six engine which later was enlarged to 4.5 litre. The performance, even for a big car, was excellent. They were the first post-war luxury car from Bentley and were a genuine success despite the economic situation. These cars today represent excellent value for money and are becoming more and more desirable. This car is in good all round useable condition, and has travelled very few miles since its last MOT recently expired. It is understood that the car was restored in around 1994. It would be a real shame to use this as a basis for a Mk.VI special, however it would be ideal. It is sold with V5c. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1075

1964 Austin Mini De-Luxe 850cc Reg.no. CVK 370B Chassis no. A/A2S75-611837A Engine no. AM-U-H789523 The history of this revolutionary motorcar is well known and its impact socially, culturally and mechanically is well documented. Following the Suez Crisis in 1956-57, little time was wasted in commissioning Alec Issigonis to begin work on a radical small car project. The brief was to house four adults plus their luggage within as small as space as possible. The Mini featured an ingenious transverse-mounted powertrain (with engine sat atop the gearbox, front-wheel drive and compact rack and pinion steering. This excellent example was recently removed from dry storage where it had been since 1987, and mechanically re-commissioned. This original factory paint example still retains its original biscuit trim and has a genuine low mileage of 22,247. The car is supplied with an old-style ‘Vehicle Registration Document’ and an MOT certificate valid for 12 months and paperwork that verifies the low mileage. A rare opportunity to acquire a very low mileage and original British icon. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1076

1973 Triumph Stag Reg.no. PPF 55L Chassis no. LD218140 Engine no. Unknown This is the second Triumph Stag in our sale and the car is in very good all round condition. It had a bare metal re-spray in 2000 and its original engine was completely rebuilt. There are receipts supporting the £5,000 plus of expenditure at Rimmer Bros. The car recently had a new hood fitted and has got refurbished wheels. It drives exactly as a Stag should with impressive handling and plenty of performance. It is sold with V5c and new MOT. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1078

1935 Morris 8 Sports Tourer Reg.no. BMY 687 Chassis no. 13194 Engine no. 7856 This Morris 8 was purchased by the current vendor as a ‘garage find’ in rolling chassis form. An extensive restoration followed, including rear chassis repair, due to corrosion. A brand new engine was fitted and the gearbox was changed to four-speed. The axles, brakes and steering box have all been overhauled. A ‘Special’ stainless steel body was constructed, new seats were made and a new hood and tonneau. The result is a unique and highly useable lightweight car, with all the expense already undertaken, that is ready for the road and MOT’d until the end of this month. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1079

1956 Ford Popular 103E Reg.no. WNK 277 Chassis no. Unknown Engine no. Unknown WNK 277 is an excellent example of a Ford Popular ‘sit up and beg’ model, which is in very good original condition. Finished in gleaming black with original red leatherette trim, this car has been very well looked after by previous owners and has to be seen to be appreciated, it only has a recorded mileage of 30,266 which is believed genuine. The car is known to the Ford side-valve owners club, but has been little used for the last five years and kept in dry storage. The Popular 103E really is ‘no frills’ motoring, with 1930’s styling and even original semaphore indicators which are in working order. The original windscreen wiper has been converted to an electric motor to enable it to go uphill when it is raining (the only non-original feature of the car). This car has recently been re-commissioned with new heavy duty 6-volt battery, coil, plugs, leads and a reconditioned distributer. It has been MOT’d every year up until last year and runs well on unleaded fuel, although an additive is advised for hot weather. The bodywork and trim are all in excellent condition and there is little or no rust anywhere. The interior is in excellent condition with virtually no wear to the seats or trim panels. Even the original starting handle, bottle jack and spare wheel are still in place. A car that has to be viewed. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1080

1980 Triumph Dolomite 18/50 H/L Reg.no. RYD 908N Chassis no. WF87550 Engine no. WF83768H Described as in good overall condition by the vendor, this 1850 model presents well, and represents excellent value for money. It has been restored very recently, and there are a few receipts supporting this restoration. It is sold with a spare engine and a selection of spares including trim. It also has an MOT. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1082

1963 Ford Zodiac Executive Mk.III Reg.no. DMT 777A Chassis no. Z64C.208178 Engine no. 213E86014 These large saloons followed their predecessors in being good value for money, having reasonable spares, reliability and comfort, especially on long journeys. They carried the Ford name in the post-war era very well. The Mk.III saloon was tested by The Motor magazine in 1962 and found to have a top speed of 100.7mph and could accelerate from 0-60mph in 13.4 seconds. This example is finished in white with a blue interior and we understand that it is a very straight car following an older restoration. The engine and gearbox work well, there is however a slight shudder on the propshaft at certain speeds. It is taxed and tested and ready for the road. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1083

1987 Mercedes Benz 300 SE Auto Reg.no. MIL 1388 Chassis no. WDB1260242A327245 Engine no. 10398122030564 The Mercedes 300SE was a thoroughly modern car when it was introduced, featuring automatic transmission, more expensive wood and leather trim. These Mercedes’ are truly excellent cars that are so well built that they seem to go on forever. This superb example offers the best economy of all the large saloon range. The car was a special order from new having sun roof, alloy wheels and very unusual burgundy colour interior. This example we are advised, is in good all round condition and would make an ideal addition to a car hire or wedding fleet. It is presently on SORN and MOT’d until May 2014. It retains its original tool kit and showroom brochure. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1084

1930 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Hooper Limousine Reg.no. GK 54 Chassis no. GSR 73 Engine no. Q9Q The 20/25 model was built between 1929 and 1936 succeeding the 20hp as Rolls-Royce’s ‘small car’. It was intended to appeal initially to owner/drivers, however many were sold to customers with chauffeurs. The 20/25 engine was enlarged to 3,699cc and a single carburettor was deemed sufficient. A dual coil/magneto ignition was also favoured. This Hooper limousine is very elegant and has the look of a true vintage car, combined with all the improvements that the ‘new’ 20/25 model brought to customers. Our vendor tells us that over £14,000 has been spent on the engine alone, and there are copies of invoices to support the work carried out by Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialists, West Hoathly Garage Ltd, Sussex. The Hooper coachwork has a glass partition and two occasional seats and the leather interior is excellent. The headlining and carpets are also in good condition. The car rarely still retains its original registration number ‘GK 53’, which has been valued itself at £10,000! Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1086

1934 Rover Speed 14 Coupe with Salmons coachwork. Reg. no. BPE 752 Chassis no. 431026 Engine no. 431026 Rover’s Speed model offering was a 14/6 introduced in 1933, with a tuned 1,577cc ohv engine, with a high compression cylinder head and triple down draught bronze bodied SU carburettors, the new model was capable of 80mph. The Rover Speed Pilot was another marketing ploy by the company to attract a more discerning, up-market clientele. This is the second Speed Pilot that we have been favoured with offering for sale, but they are rare cars indeed. This example has been owned by our vendor since August 1969 which he purchased in Chipping Sodbury. We are told that the vendor drove it to Holyhead and then onto Dublin where it has been in the same private ownership ever since. We understand that the car was restored between 1998 and 2002. It now presents well with its green leather interior, and is a highly useable and presentable motor car. Bidding is taking place on our sister site i-bidder.com  Click here to bid

Lot 1092

1953 Daimler Conquest 2.5 ‘Genuine Barn Find’ Reg.no. PYC 900 Chassis no. D82999 Engine no. 75133 This Daimler was recently re-commissioned following 20 years of storage in a barn in South Gloucestershire. Originally supplied by a Daimler dealer in Wells, Somerset, it was owned by a Clevedon surgeon, after which it has had only four local owners, the last of whom owned the car for 35 years. The re-commissioning involved fitting a new Lucas heavy duty battery, cleaning the pugs and priming the petrol pump and the engine now runs well. The four speed ‘pre-selector’ gearbox works perfectly and our vendor describes the car as ‘running as she did 60 years ago’. During the last 20 years a replacement dynamo, fuse box and cut out have been fitted. The bodywork and panels all appear sound and remarkably rust free. The interior is all original and the green leather upholstery is very good considering the age. The only significant item which requires replacement is the internal bonnet release cable. Further re-commissioning is recommended in respect of cleaning the brakes etc., but this presents a very straightforward opportunity to start classic car motoring without major expenditure.
