''Pandora'', an Elm on Oak clinker-built sailing yacht believed to have been constructed by the well-known boat-builders Dixons of Exmouth in 1939, length 18'6'', beam 80'', draught 22'' approx., having a retractable galvanized centre board she is capable of negotiating shallow waters, understood to be ''Gunter'' rigged she is fitted with a little-used ''Vire BVR'' 6.5 h.p. electric start in-board petrol engine with forward and reverse reduction gearbox driving a 12'' propeller. The vessel closely resembles open fishing boats of the era built by Dixons but with the addition of a compact, enclosed two-berth cabin but no cooking, washing or sanitary facilities. A canopy erected over the open deck area could easily create useful, additional covered space. She is believed to be the sole remaining ''Dixons of Exmouth'' Elm on Oak yacht of her type. Included is an excellent galvanized ''Snipe'' break-back trailer that towed very well on it's 20 plus miles journey to the sale-rooms.

Chain with some small chips to the enamel parts.

A Continental Four Colour Gold Snuff Box, 19th century, rounded rectangular, the lid centred by an inset oval plaque enamelled with a sprays of roses, tulips and other flowers, against an engine turned ground and repeat running acanthus leaf border, the side panels similarly decorated, the underside with high relief broad floral edge band in three colours, 7.6cm by 5.5cm by 1.8cm Numerous small hairline cracks to the painted floral panel. The applied rim moulding is becoming loose and is flexible to a light push. The lid has a high number of small dents and pin head dents, mainly visible from the underside of the lid. Bottom left angle has become misshapen, and caused the basal rim moulding to `open up` a little. Hinge good. The inside is scratched (through cleaning?) and is centred by a lozenge reserve with letters CM? Some quite heavy wear and tear throughout. 290513 weight 109.2g
A Louis XVI Three Colour Gold Oval Snuff Box, Jean-Antoine Joubert, Paris, 1782, the lid centred by a gardening trophy and a pair of doves, within a wave and dot engine turned surround and floral, leaf and jewelled border, four panels to the side and conforming underside, marks of Joubert, and also charge and dècharge marks of Henri Clavel, 6.5cm wide There is a small hole front left panel just above relief husks. Otherwise, apart from wear commensurate with age to the lid, the piece is in crisp condition. 290513
A gentleman`s full hunter pocket watch by Dent, 61 Strand, London, the movement numbered 37550 and having a plain balance and single fusee. The 1.5"diam plain white enamel dial has Roman numerals and a separate seconds ring. It is contained in a silver full hunter case hallmarked for 1875 and having engine turning to both front and rear faces, 2"diam overall.
A Pair of Early 19th Century Parcel Gilt Bronze and Carrara Marble Figural Table Candlesticks, each as a putto upholding a wrythen fluted stem topped by engine turned campana nozzles, on stepped cylindrical marble bases with applied beaded and milled ormolu mounts, 31cm high Both the nozzles have been drilled to take an electric flex. An Anglo-Indian Carved Sandalwood and Elephant Ivory Chess Set, circa 1820, each with petalette circular domed base and multiple knop, and various carved and engine turned detail, the sandalwood pieces with both knights missing, contained in two ivory veneered sandalwood boxes with black pigment decorated engraved bandings, 22cm wide Box 1 - large portion of right hand veneer missing and piece not retained. Bad splitting and shifting of veneers and discolouration. Splitting of the basal boards. Later textile insert. Box 2 - two loose sections of lid veneer (both retained). Further lifting of veneers and general cracking and rubbing. Hinged lid detached and cracked. Later textile insert. Basal boards cracked. a/f. Wooden chess set - lacking both knights. King has a section of the finial cross missing (piece not retained). Queen with chunk out of crown finial. One bishop finial chipped. Ivory set - both knights with horse head section finials reglued, one reglued at the base of the main stem. Queen reglued towards the top of the stem. One bishop top section detached and also chipped on the fringed peak. Due to the complexity of these pieces not all faults are necessarily contained within this description.
