A Chinese porcelain vase, 19th century. Painted with dogs of fo, with rows of verse, red seal, height 28cm, width 17.5cm. Provenance: From the estate of Lt Commander Conway Benning Allen. Allen was married in Hong Kong Cathedral in 1927, at which time he was Captain of HMS L5, one of eight L class submarines built for the Royal Navy during WWI. Based in Falmouth, HMS L5 had sailed to Hong Kong in 1919 and she served on the China Station throughout the 1920s, where Allen and his wife acquired these items.Firing crack only visible on the interior of the vase. Handle on cover broken off and missing. Chips to base.

A late 18th/early 19th century Chinese bronze censer with engraved band of figural and landscape detail, elaborate seal mark and raised on three tapering supports, width 16cm.Condition Report: Both handles have cracks running through them, one is closed, one is slightly open. Heavy wear to the interior, a couple of slight dents and rubbing to the patina along the rim. One with an area of rough finish to the rim and general surface wear throughout.

Chinese enamel painted footed dish, lotus form bowl has a gilded, turquoise border enclosing a scene of dragons chasing a pearl of wisdom, the exterior of the bowl is painted with blossom and birds, approx 18 cms diameter x 5 cms h diameter, Tongzhi (1872-74) iron red seal to base and a black wax export seal.
