A Chinese famille rose medallion bowl, decorated with four circular cartouches of figures and landscapes, on a sgraffito blue ground, the interior in underglazed blue with a central circular cartouche of two figures with an ox in a landscape, Jiaqing six character seal mark, 1796-1820, end of the period. An early 19th century Chinese famille verte saucer dish decorated with women weaving in an interior, and men harvesting in the fields, with two panels of text, red painted seal mark 24cm diameter Note: this appears to depict the production of reeds into mats, showing the whole process. The text panels will almost certainly relate to this. The scene probably comes from pith paper paintings or painted wallpaper, depicting Chinese production techniques.
