A Chinese brown patinated bronze two-handled circular censer, the low squat bulbous body decorated in gold leaf with a "Splash" design, 8ins (20.4cm) diameter x 4ins (10.2cm) high (apocryphal six character mark cast to base)Condition - Some glue residue around neck, wrists and his left leg. Chipping to boxwood collar around neck. Crack in ivory on his right hand and chip to the boxwood sleeve of the same right arm. Small crack to his right trouser leg. Two cracks and repaired chip to his left trouser leg. His left ivory foot is loose in the leg. Crack running down the left side of his back - a natural flaw with a bit of movement. Small chip to edge of robe at the bottom of his back. Tree trunk base appears to be in overall good condition. Rectangular cavity on the underside where the seal is now missing.

A Chinese blue and white baluster shaped vase and cover decorated with figures various bearing four character mark to base, a Meiji period Japanese satsuma ware miniature teapot bearing seal mark to base, impressed and painted, a pair of 19th Century Japanese crane decorated plates, a Japanese satsuma ware chrysanthemum and flower decorated plate bearing script mark within an impressed seal to base and a Persian painted alabaster circular plate, the centre field depicting a saddled horse CONDITION REPORTS The lid of the blue and white vase has had a chip off the tail of the dog, there is a large crack underneath the glaze, presumably a firing fault, with several hairline fractures running form it on the main body of the vase. Various firing faults - measures including lid approx 27cm in height.. Satsuma ware miniature teapot lid is broken in to four pieces. There are some pieces missing. The handle further away from the spout has been off and repaired. The spout edge has some roughness to it. Teapot measures approx. 5cm in height excluding lid. One of the crane decorated plates does not ring true, unable to see crack though. There are losses to the enamel decoration all over, especially to the rims. Knife marks etc. all over, various firing faults. The Satsuma ware plate is slightly misshapen especially to the right hand side edge, has some small firing faults and crazing. The Persian plate has a chip to the right hand corner rim. All items have general wear and tear conducive with age and use to include surface scratches, knocks etc. and are in need of a clean. Celadon cup - crazed otherwise ok. Two early jarlets - each crazed, one with repaired handle and losses to glaze on rim. Green large jar - light crazing, otherwise ok. Green pillow - heavily crazed throughout, with a couple of chips.
A Japanese ivory netsuke carved as an elephant standing four square and mounted with a throne style chair within which sits a youth dressed in Chinese costume and holding a uchiway style fan, five other youths stand around the elephants legs playing musical instruments, on oval base signed in elaborate cartouches Chikuyosai Tomochika and tensho seal reading Tomochika. Late Edo. Height 6cm.Another elephant and children subject by Tomochika is illustrated in George Lazarnick's "Netsuke and Inro Artists and How to Read Their Signatures." page 1149 Condition report: No condition issues.
