CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN ‘BAJIXIANG’ EWER AND COVER, 20th CENTURY The pouring vessel modelled on the archaic bronze ‘He’, a ritual wine vessel. The globular body and diagonally set spout supported by four legs with a squat neck leading into a curved handle and cover. Decorated with ‘Bajixiang’, the eight Buddhist emblems. The interior base of the spout has seven separate holes. Qianlong seal mark to base but later. Together with a hardwood stand with carved Yin-Yang emblem. 23.5cm length 22.5cm tall without stand. Heath had an attraction to this form. During his time in Hong Kong, he attended a Christie’s sale of ‘Fine Chinese Ceramics, Jade and Works of Art’ at the Mandarin Hotel on 13th January 1987.
