She married her husband Paul Colinet in Tianjin in September 1947 and later left Tianjin for France in 1953. Mary collected Chinese art and antiques, particularly during the period between 1964 and 1975 when she lived in Hong Kong. Mary spoke Greek as her first language and was also proficient in Mandarin, English and French. According to the family, during her time living in Tianjin, Mary visited Qi Baishi's studio and had scrolls painted by Qi Baishi for her in her presence. She also bought other pieces painted by students working for Qi Baishi.

A CHINESE WHITE JADE BELTHOOK AND A CELADON JADE SEAL PASTE BOX AND COVER QING DYNASTY The belthook terminating in the head of a fierce dragon, the shaft deeply carved with a sinuous chilong grasping lingzhi in its mouth, the stone of an even pale tone with some small russet inclusions, the seal paste box of circular form, carved in low relief to the cover with three flowers growing from leafy branches, the green stone with some inclusions, 10.3cm and 5.7cm. A CHINESE YELLOW-GROUND 'LANDSCAPE' PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLE 20TH CENTURY The pear-shaped body rising to a tall neck terminating in a garlic-head mouth, finely painted with a continuous scene depicting figures in a mountainous river landscape, with two lines of calligraphy and three seal marks above, the base with a four character Daoguang mark in iron-red, 8cm. Provenance: from an English private collection, West Yorkshire, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
A LARGE CHINESE SOAPSTONE 'MOUNTAIN' SEAL LATE QING DYNASTY Naturalistically formed as a mountain, carved to one side with trees and dwellings dispersed around a rocky cliff, with inscriptions to both sides, inscribed with a date for winter of the first year of the Tongzhi Emperor's reign (1862) and with a signature reading Chen Yizeng, the underside carved with seal script characters, 12cm wide. Provenance: from an English private collection, West Yorkshire, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
A CHINESE WOOD SEAL CHEST, GUANPIXIANG QING DYNASTY Of rectangular form, with a metal clasp shaped as a ruyi-head to the hinged cover, the front with two doors which open to reveal four small drawers above a larger one, each of the shorter sides with a handle, all supported on a stepped base mounted with metal to the corners, 32cm x 32.5cm x 24.7cm. A CHINESE YIXING 'BIRD AND FLOWER' VASE QING DYNASTY The baluster-shaped body surmounted by a waisted neck flaring at the rim, decorated with a pair of birds perching on a prunus branch amongst blossoms, the design contained between raised lappets and key fret, with an inscription to one side reading Shi Lin and a seal mark reading Lin, the base with a seal mark which reads Xiao Kunsheng, 26.7cm.
A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE CORAL-GROUND CYLINDRICAL BRUSHPOT, BITONG PROBABLY LATE QING DYNASTY Painted to the exterior with two large fruit-shaped panels enclosing sprays of blossoming chrysanthemum, with iron-red seal marks by the flowers, the designs reserved on a bold reddish-orange ground, 12.3cm.
A CHINESE PAINTED POTTERY MODEL OF A FIGURE RIDING A HORSE HAN DYNASTY The horse depicted standing tall with all four feet on the ground, the figure sits on the horse's back with his arms raised before him, the model decorated with red and black pigments, together with a rectangular wood stand raised on four scrolling feet, the top inset with a marble panel incised with two lines of calligraphy and a seal mark, 30cm high. FIFTEEN CHINESE WOOD CARVINGS CONTAINED IN A PARCEL-GILT PEWTER BOX QING DYNASTY OR LATER Probably aloeswood, the carvings formed as lingzhi, fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts, the circular box decorated to the cover with phoenix and other birds amongst blossoming peony branches, the birds depicted flying under clouds and the sun incised with the character ri, with an inscription on silk to the underside of the cover, 12cm max, the box 34.5cm, 4.2kg overall. (17) The inscription to the cover is a poem about the items and states that they are carved in chen xiang. The inscription is dated to the guihai year and the seal mark reads Jiaqing yu bi.清或更晚 木雕百果清供 一組十五件
