The circular Yixing teapot - with losses to the interior rim and a chip to the cover. Large chip to the foot and some surface scratches. One blue and white teapot is restored to the handle, cover and spout. The other blue and white teapot - bearing wax seal and with firing flaws. White glazed teapot - with a hairline crack to the cover. Remaining teapot with partial wax seal, glaze imperfections and wear. Oil bottle - with chip and hairline crack to the cover, and wear and rubbing throughout.

Yuan Yunyi (袁韻宜) (1920-2004) - Chrysanthemums, Republic of China scroll painting dated 1944, ink on paper attached to fabric-covered wooden rollers, a loose translation of the script indicates that this was gifted by Army Lieutenant General Du Yuming of the Kunming Defense Command to a member of the British Embassy as a gesture of loyalty and commemorates the annual Double Ninth / Chong Yang Festival, bearing four seal stamps and inscription label verso, image dimensions 94 x 39.5cm, full dimensions 223 x 51cmNotes: Tu Xi-ming (Du Yuming) (1905-1981) was a Kuomintang field commander controlling Nationalist forces against the Communists and Japanese. He won several important battles, but was relieved of command in 1947 and later captured and held as a POW by the Communists for a decade. His successful ‘re-education’ led him to live out the rest of his life with a position as an official historian in the Communist Government until his death in 1981.Mr Martin ran the Kunming branch of the Press Attache’s office of the British Embassy in China. This ostensibly focused on translating pieces from the Chinese press involving economics and politics, but was also part of a wider Allied network collecting intelligence and organising supplies through the region.Yuan Yunyi was a female painter and playwright for the Peking Opera. She was the second wife of artist Pang Xunqin, founding member of the Storm Society who aimed to bring a Parisian-style art world to China, and published a biography of him in 1995. Mid-20th century China was in a state of flux. The end of monarchical rule in 1912 was followed by the establishment of the Republic of China. However the power struggles continued between Nationalists and Communists, which led to civil war, and were exacerbated by the Japanese invasion and World War II. The British and Americans worked alongside the Nationalist (KMT) government under Chiang Kai-shek against the Communists and Japanese.The Chong Yang Festival (Double Ninth Festival) takes place on the auspicious date of the 9th day of the 9th month. Celebrations involve drinking chrysanthemum liqueur and exhibiting chrysanthemums.Numerous creases but no tears.Some staining but largely only to borders.

A pair of 19th century Chinese embroidered roundels/ panels, finely embroidered in silk, primarily in blue, gold, brown and pink thread, each panel depicting an individual scenes of animals and birds, one finely embroidered with ornithological subject possibly representing 'The One Hundred Birds' legend, including golden pheasant, egrets, ducks within a pond with smaller birds amongst bamboo and cherry blossom; the other finely embroidered with a pair of sika deer and birds including heron amongst trees, each individually signed and bearing embroidered seal mark, within circular frames (2)each overall 35.5cm, within frame diameter 26cm Condition: The embroidery with the deer - repaired tear approximately 9cm in length to top right, a tear and fraying to mid left above flowers to left hand edge, spotting and evidence of damp in places.The embroidery with the birds- - ruching within frame, some damp type staining to top edge, dark mark to lower right edge. The signatures appear to read 'Chen Jinlain' embroidered seal mark possibly 'He Nanshan'.
An unusual Chinese gilt metal and cloisonné brush washer modelled as a stylised sea creature with oval bowl and impressed seal mark to the base, height 27cm, length 36cm. Provenance: private collection, UK.Additional InformationA few small dents to the edges of the bowl, a few imperfections to the casting, the cloisonné is however in good condition with just s tiny sliver surface chip towards to the lower section of the neck.

A large Chinese porcelain craquelure baluster vase, 19th century, glazed in celadon and batavian palettes, of typical baluster form with two applied ring mask handles, decorated with buff banding depicting masks of dogs of fo and clouds, seal mark to the underside, 44cm high (at fault) Condition report; Large section to the rim missing. No further signs of cracks, chips or restoration. The nature of the vase is craquelure so stained hairlines are naturally apparent. Some surface staining, scratches and wear.
