A pair of Chinese cong vases, each with elephant head handles and painted in the Dowager Empress style en grissaille with chrysanthemum and other flowers on a turquoise ground, six character Qianlong seal marks, in under glazed blue, but late 19th century, the gilding worn and small rim chips, 29.5cm. (2)
A rare Chinese green and aubergine dragon bowl, for a concubine of the fifth rank, the exterior finely incised with two scaly five-clawed dragons above breaking waves in pursuit of flaming pearls of wisdom, the base with a six character Daoguang seal mark in under glazed blue and of the period 1821-1850, a faint hairline crack, 11.2cm. Cf. Jan Stuart, Imperial Porcelain and Court Values, Orientations, August 1993, fig. 3 for a Kangxi dish in the same palette from the Tianminlou Foundation, Hong Kong.
A Chinese green dragon saucer dish, the centre painted with a single dragon about to grasp the flaming pearl of wisdom, the exterior with two further beasts on a ground moulded with overlapping scales, a six character Qianlong seal mark and of the period 1736-95, a well restored crack and an associated filled rim chip, 17.8cm.
A good Chinese famille rose ovoid vase, by Zhai Xiaoxiang, with a slender neck and everted rim, finely painted with bamboo, roses and a flowering magnolia, above which fly colourful butterflies, the reverse with calligraphy, the base with a four character seal mark Jing de zhen zhi, 1995, 26cm. Six Chinese famille rose bowls with matching saucers, each finely enamelled with figures walking amidst blossoming trees in Spring, beneath gilded blue borders, the interiors and bases glazed green, each piece with a six character iron red Daoguang seal mark and of the period 1821-1850, some small cracks and chips, 10.6cm and 15.4cm. (12). Provenance: Acquired by John Reeves after his arrival in Canton in 1812, and thence by descent.
Five Chinese famille rose covered bowls, painted with figures in gardens at leisure, the interiors and bases turquoise, two bowls with Daoguang seal marks, the remainder with Jiang Zheng long zhi (Made by Jiang Zhenglong) marks, all Daoguang 1821-1850, minor damages, 11cm.
