A Chinese light brown Yixing Teapot and cover, by Li Bi-fang (1939-2008) the typical "Jing-lan" shape tea pot carved with elegant arcs in a minimalist style, the base and lid with impressed potter s seal mark, the bottom marked "Made by Li Bi-fang". Li Bi-fang (1939-2008), a well-known and respected Yi-xing tea potter. Some of her works had been collected by Shanghai Museum and Hong Kong Museum of Tea Ware, in 1987, one of her works "Jing-lan" tea pots had been collected by the Hall Zi-guang-ge, the central government headquarters compound in Zhong-nan-hai, Beijing, China." A Chinese armorial cream jug, c.1722, decorated with the arms of Trevor impaling Weldon, amidst tied scrolls, famille rose flowers and pomegranates, the cover lacking, 9.5cm. Provenance: the Clifford Henderson collection. Purchased from Heirloom and Howard in 1995. This service was made for Thomas Trevor, 1st Baron Trevor, who held a variety of legal and political offices, including Lord Privy Seal.
A Chinese blue and white gu beaker vase, Kangxi 1662-1722, well painted with figures in landscapes, the central section with two pomegranate-shaped panels containing seal marks, the base with a lozenge mark, some good restoration, 46.2cm. Provenance: from the collection of Roger and Jill Bichard of Seend House, Wiltshire.
A rare Chinese Imperial turquoise ground famille rose bottle vase, Daoguang six character seal mark in gold and of the period 1821-1850, decorated to simulate cloisonne with stylized flower heads, bats, shou characters and swastika motifs against a network of floral scrolls all outlines in gold on a turquoise ground, the neck with stylized animal handles, the shoulder with a band of ruyi heads, the flared rim extensively chipped, 29cm. Provenance: an English private collection from St. Ives, Cornwall. For an almost identical vase cf. Hansons Auctioneers, 10th March 2011.
