A Canadian metalwares silver twin handled tankard, stamped BIRKS STERLING with raised upper and lower rims engraved RMGC CAPTAIN'S PRIZE 1903, two simple scroll handles, gilt washed interior, 10cm diameter at the rim, 12cm high, 13.5oztAs the headquarters of Birks Silverware is in Montreal, the initials on the tankard may refer to the Royal Montreal Golf Club.
A George II silver tankard, mark of Benjamin West (1739 - 1750), London, date letter indecipherable, of traditional baluster form with capped double scroll handle, later decorative scroll and foliate engraving around a vacant escutcheon shaped cartouche, raised on a spread foot, 12cm high, 11.2oztOverall in good condition with no obvious sign of repair. Some minor surface scratches as to be expected. No obvious sign of erasures to the cartouche. Stands firm on a flat surface with no wobble. Hallmarks rubbed but mostly readable. Very feint signs of three initials to the underside.
