Victorian silver tankard, having flat sides and scroll handle, sponsors mark indistinct, London 1854, 11.5cm high, 335g approx Condition: The front has a monogram and crest engraved to it. Surface scratches and light dings allover. The top and bottom appear very slightly out of shape. Some loss of definition to the engraving and casting from polishing. **General condition consistent with age
Mid 18th Century German Fraenkel and Shrenck (Bayreuth) faience tankard, circa 1745-47, the hinged pewter cover with ball thumbpiece over medallion, the cylindrical body with perching bird between sponged manganese trees, blue dash handle, initialled beneath BFS, 26cm high Condition: Pewter cover is somewhat bent and buckled. Faience body has several vertical cracks, one of these beside handle extending at least halfway done body, another at side of body also extendes halfway down forming a reattached U-shaped section with reattached loss. Typical rim fritting. Pewter mount to foot is slightly bruised and is a little loose. Strap handle has been cracked and repaired in three places, overall sold as seen - **General condition consistent with age.

Judd of the Grenadier Guards and Royal Military Police comprising World War II medal group: 1939-1945 Medal, Defence Medal, 1939-1945 Star, African Star (with 8th Army clasp), Italy Star, George VI General Service Medal with Palestine 1945-48 clasp and Elizabeth II Coronation Medal, together with a collection of various uniform buttons and cap badges, squadron photograph taken at Kasr-el-Nil barracks, Egypt, Sergeants Mess April 1955 photograph, large Grenadier Guards brass plaque, Military Police armband, various cloth uniform badges/patches, pewter tankard inscribed '2613678 Sergeant. F.P.Judd from all members Sgts mess 203 pro.coy. Egypt' etc, Sergeant Judd served in the Royal Military Police during World War II and at the age of 27 was at Dunkirk, in a newspaper clipping he was purported to have ordered to assist in control of the arrival and embarkation of troops and was among the last batch of men to leave. Newspaper article quotes 'while waiting among the sand dunes they were continually shelled, bombed and machine gunned'. Condition: **General condition consistent with age. Am Stand Eierstab-Fries, die Wandung sich konisch verjüngend, mit poliertem Beschlag- und Rollwerk, getriebenen Grotesken, Palmblättern und Früchten. Leicht gewölbter Deckel mit entsprechendem Dekor, als Bekrönung ein plastischer Bacchus auf Faß mit Wappenschild. Löwenmaske als Daumenraste des gegossenen Henkels mit Vexier-Röhrchen und Tierkopfausguss. Ein Teil des Röhrchens ragt im Inneren bis auf den Boden. Stadtmarke, Tremolierstrich, Meistemarke des Cornelius Erb (geb. um 1560, Meister um 1586, gest. 1618). Ca. 590 gr. Leichte Alterssch. Cornelius Erb wurde 1586 Meister, das sehr klare - noch nicht abgenutzte - Meisterzeichen spricht, in Kombination mit der entsprechenden Stadtmarke auf eine Entstehungszeit des Humpens wohl kurz nach 1586. Werke von Erb befinden sich u.a. im Palazzo Pitti/Florenz, im VAM London und im Museum in Salzburg. A RARE AUGSBURG SILVER-GILT TANKARD WITH "VEXIER" HANDLE by Cornelius Erb, c. 1586/90. On circular spreading foot, the body embossed with grotesque masks and scrolling cartouches, fruits and foliage. On the lid a bacchus with barrel and shield, the handle with eagle head spout of the small Vexier pipe. Fully hallmarked at the bottom. Maker's mark of Cornelius Erb (born c. 1560, Master c. 1586, dec. 1618). C. 590 g. Minor traces of age. An early nineteenth century blue and white transfer-printed tankard c.1815. It is decorated with the Figtree pattern, possibly by Stevenson. 13 cm tall. (1)Condition: There are two small foot rim chips, a fne 3cm hairline next to the handle, a small nick to the rim and a hairline across the handle. Provenance: From the Trevor Kentish Collection.
