Bristol Local Interest - A 20th century Wedgwood fine bone china Outlines of Grandeur Laurence Whistler plate, alongside Victorian local interest china. The Laurence Whistler designed Wedgwood on white ground having gilt decoration to edge surrounding a depiction of the Clifton Suspension bridge. Also included in lot a Victorian tankard and cup and saucer each with gilt edging and suspension bridge depictions on white ground.

An Edwardian Coalport porcelain goblet-vase, shape 144, modelled with three handles, flared rim, on knopped pedestal base, decorated with sprays of flowers against a white and cobalt blue ground with various gilt highlights, pattern number V.5663, green printed factory mark, painted shape and pattern marks, impressed '1188', 14 by 21.5cm, together with a Wedgwood octagonal Imari style plate with central flower in iron red and blue with gilt detailing, pattern X1127, and a miniature Crown Staffordshire tankard with navy and gilt design, 4cm high. A large Victorian presentation silver peg tankard, by Robert Harper, London 1865, cylindrical form, chased foliate scroll decoration, the scroll handle with a mask and bead decoration, the hinged cover mounted with a lion and ball thumb-piece, the silver-gilt interior with six pegs, on three recumbent lion and ball feet, inscribed 'To Mark Lemon Editor of Punch on Completion of the Fiftieth Volume from The Proprietors, June 30 1866', and later inscribed 'Presented by Herbert Eccles F.C.S Briton Ferry to David Davies F.J.I Editor of the South Wales Daily Post June 1918 in Commemoration of the latter's Mayoralty of Swansea 1916-17', height 31cm, approx. weight 79.5oz. Provenance: Mark Lemon (1809-1870) David Davies (1891-1945), and then by family descent to the current owner.Punch was founded in 1841, by Henry Mayhew and Ebenezer Landells, and it was jointly edited by Mayhew and Mark Lemon. David Percy Davies, joined the Welch Regiment in 1910, and served with the XI Corps Cyclist Battalion during World War I. After being editor of the South Wales Daily Press he went on to be the Editor of The News of the World.

The fluted, pink-banded tea bowl with rubbing to the gilt. The yellow-banded tea bowl with craquelure throughout. The larger cup and saucer with cracks on the handle and rubbing to the gilt. The smaller fluted-bodied cup with very light craquelure. the Worcester style tankard with significant repair to the body. The Derby tankard with craquelure throughout and a crack running from the lip about cm down near the handle. A crack to the small blue and white dish and chips out of the rim. Mild chipping to the rim of the Nanking bowl.
