A GEORGE III TANKARD of baluster form with bead borders, a pierced, chair-back thumbpiece, a stepped, domed cover, crested, and a spreading circular foot, maker`s mark "RE" * overstriking that of Hester Bateman, London 1782; 8.1" (20.6 cms) high; 28 oz *Maker`s mark "RE", probably for Richard Evans of Shrewsbury - a smallworker, who quite conceivably could have purchased this tankard from Hester Bateman to retail it.
