A GEORGE II TANKARD the moulded lid with pierced thumbpiece, tapered drum with moulded girdle and scroll handle terminating in a shell, 17.5cm h, by Isaac Cookson, Newcastle 1750, 24ozs ++In good average condition with apparently no damage or repairs, the well spaced marks to the right of the handle all with slight wear but legible. The dome of the lid marked with the lion passant, the handle with the maker`s mark. No apparent thinning when gently pressed suggesting no erasure
A GEORGE III TANKARD the ogee domed lid with pierced thumbpiece, the scroll handle with heart shaped terminal, 19.5cm h, marked under lid, on handle and underneath by Samuel Welles, London 1760, 24ozs ++Light wear and erasure but no noticeably thin with no apparent give when gently probed, on the front of the tankard the thumbpiece slightly bent forward, a few light scratches and signs of wear consistent with age. The marks good, no repairs
