A mid-18th century Chinese export porcelain tankard; decorated in the famille rose palette with a figure riding upon the back of a big cat (possibly a tiger) before a succession of five further figures in various guises (restored) 16cm high CONDITION REPORT: There looks like a considerable area around the rim where it has been restored although this has been done quite well, you have to look quite closely to see that it is not perfect. Restoration is quite good and covers most of the outside and inside of the rim at the top. As a result of this there is some “fresh” painting to the top lip at the edge. Although the handle looks good at first inspect it may also have been off and on at some stage, although again the restoration is very good.
An unusual and large 19th century hand-planished silver-plate on copper tankard; the hinged dome-topped lid surmounted with finial and with pierced thumbpiece and above a tapering conical-shaped main body and lower spreading circular foot applied with ten various Georgian coins in worn condition, 33cm high
A large and heavy lidded Scottish pewter tankard of tapering cylindrical form; wing-nut-shaped thumbpiece above a central decorative reeded band and engraved 'Cumbnd 1774 Kirk', 25.5cm high CONDITION REPORT: We are not sure or convinced that the date is original. The tankard appears to be in generally good overall condition. There are one or two small “dings”. There is evidence of a small solder repair where the top of the handle affixed to the rim and there is also what appears to be several small “dings” to the reading at the lower end where the waisted foot starts. There are several labels to the underside and on the inside there is a small split to the top of the tankard where the handle affixes. There is also wording to the inside bottom of the tankard, this says Graham & Wardrop, then in a separate concave cartouche the word London. We believe this is probably a 19th/20th Century copy of an original.
