1914-15 Star Trio & WW2 Defence Medal Royal Berkshire Regiment, group awarded to “12483 SJT C SIMMONDS R. BERKS. R”, Defence medal un-named as issued. Accompanied by 1914 Princess Mary Christmas tin, 1915 Christmas card, Princess Mary Bullet pencil, various items of trench art, silver plate small prize jug presented to him and another larger tankard with presentation inscription “22ND BN COUNTY OF LONDON REGT CLASS COMPETITION 1911 PRESENTED BY F. W. Doggett SEVEN SHOTS AT 200 YDS – WON BY – Sergt A Sommonds A. Co 21 Points”. Clement Simmonds was a 27 year old Carpenter when he re-enlisted at Bermondsey Town Hall on 2nd September 1914. Arriving in France on the 25th July 1915 he served in 6th Battalion later transferring to 2/4 Battalion. Wounded whilst serving with 6th Battalion on 25/6/1916, gunshot wound to the face, he was eventually demobilised in January 1919. He put in an unsuccessful claim for a disability pension due to the fact that his teeth had to be removed, he was however recommended for a set of dentures

A London delft tin-glazed earthenware tankard, initialled and dated 'I H K' '1684', in the manner Pickleherring Quay, 17cm high CONDITION REPORT:The piece shows surface crazing throughout the interior and exterior. The rim shows chips and nibbles, and the foot rim shows expected glazing faults. There are firing pits and frits across the body, and several areas of surface scratching. There is no visible evidence of restoration to the piece.
