Presentation Items. A presentation silver-plated tankard, 115mm in height x 86mm in diameter, by E. and E. Emanuel, Portsmouth, inscribed ‘From J. E. Harpur Crewe. 64th. Regt. to T. G. Shark as a Token of Regard 1875.’; together with an unrelated silver pocket watch, with Roman numerals, with subsidiary seconds dial with Arabic numerals, the backplate engraved ‘Presented to E. H. AIkman. as a mark of esteem by the Crew of H.M. Monitor No. 28. August 1917.’; and a brass stall plate, 118mm x 96mm, engraved ‘Brigade Major Neemuch’, with two loops crudely soldered to reverse, the watch not obviously in working order, overall reasonable condition (3) £100-£140 --- Sold with copied research.

Both cover and base re-assayed and re-hallmarked by the London Assay Office, 2023.

Also with a 18thc small wine glass with ogee bowl and clear stem (14cms high), a similar type glass with spiral twist stem (15.5cms high, possibly 19thc), and a large wine glass with bell shaped bowl,engraved 'Fiat' and with flowers and spiral stem (19cms high). Also with a continental glass tankard, painted with a Huntsman on a Horse (16cms high). (5). *CR Bell shaped glass with spiral stem, the odd very minor mark/scratch to the bowl. The other glasses seem generally fine. Glass tankard, sounds cracked when tapped.

GEORGIAN SILVER. A George IV presentation, silver spouted tankard, the body with floral & foliate decoration & a cartouche with the arms of the Cox family of Beaminster. To the domed lid an inscription reading "Captain Bragge, Sadborow Volunr. Yeomry to Lieut. S. Cox on the disbanding of the Corps, 1827". Stamped with the hallmark for London 1828. Maker's mark I.W. (probably James Wintle). Height 20.5cm. Approx. 980g. (31.5 t.oz). NOTE 1. Captain Bragge was associated with the East Devonshire, Sadborow Volunteer Yeomanry. Lieutenant S. Cox was a member of the Cox family of Beaminster Manor in Dorset. Sadborow was in East Devon until later it became a part of West Dorset. Samuel Cox married Vertue Russell in 1816 on Samuel's 26th birthday. By 1833 when Princess Victoria passed through Beaminster, Samuel Cox then a Cornet in the Dorset Yeoman Cavalry escorted Her Royal Highness to the town of Lyme Regis. This silver tankard has passed through the generations of the family to the current owners. NOTE 2. This tankard was submitted to the Goldsmith's Company Assay Office on 15th December 2022 & it is the opinion of the Committee that it is hallmarked in accordance with the Hall marking Act 1973.Please note that all items in this auction are previously owned & are offered on behalf of private vendors.
