A collection of six Chinese Export Tankards, Qing dynasty, late 18th early 19th century variously decorated in underglaze blue with coloured enamels and in the famille rose palette. 13 cm high for the biggest one. Condition Report: All of them with firing fault , one with an old restoration to a broken handle , some chips , traces of abrasion of the glaze , some faded gilding and an hairline on one from the rim to the base of the '' Mandarins'' Tankard.

A George II silver tankard, with domed, hinged cover, scalloped thumbpiece and scroll handle, and girdled tapering body, by Humphrey Payne, London 1734, engraved crest to the lid and body, and inscription to the underside 'Presented to the Right Hon Stanley Baldwin PC, DCL, LLD, MP Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury, with the Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Harrogate, 20th July 1928', 18cm high, 23.5oz.This lot is from the estate of Edward Alfred Alexander Baldwin (1938 - 2021). Edward was the grandson of Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin, and the fourth Earl Baldwin of Bewdley. Stanley Baldwin was from an extraordinary family: Rudyard Kipling was his first cousin, Edward Burne-Jones and Edward Poynter were both uncles, his mother Louisa was a novelist, and her siblings included the famous Macdonald sisters. Edward Baldwin was committed to rehabilitating his grandfather's reputation and, being an only child, spent much of his life as sole custodian of these family objects.Solder to underside of base. Good overall, with some small dents and knocks to the foot rim, and further minor knocks and scratches throughout. Crest to lid. Marks are fairly clear to side, inside of lid, and further maker's mark to the edge of the handle.

CYPRIOT MIDDLE BRONZE AGE POTTERY JUG OR TANKARDMiddle Bronze Age, Ca. 1900-1650 BCA handsome red burnished pottery tankard or jug with a bulbous lower body, and tapering cylindrical upper body/neck that terminates in a thick, overhung rim. A pierced lug handle seated between the body and the neck. A strap handle that rises above the rim is attached at the mouth and lower body. A Hungarian 17th century silver tankard. Tapering cylindrical with reeded skirt foot; the body with repousée and chased decoration to upper and lower sections depicting, winged putti and mythical birds within scrolling foliage. The centre with three circular cartouches depicting a winged putto and male and female warrior figures. Central engraved inscription reading 'Toldalagy. Mihaly Mihalcz Ersebet Ano. 1623'. the scrolling handle with caryatid above scrolling terminal to base. Lacking thumbpiece. The slightly domed, stepped, hinged cover with later cast foliate finial. The base with applied coin; maker's mark AF and scratch number. Traces of other marks - rubbed.29.5cm high. 27.9 oztNote a near identical tankard (with differing finial) is illustrated as one in a series of stamps. This tankard is recorded as a silver tankard by Milhaly ToldalaghyThe collection is known as Hungarian Goldsmiths' Art circa 1970 At some point, the tankard has been dropped on its cover which caused the loss of the finial and the thumb piece. The current finial is a replacement. There is a split to the cover and it is overall misshapen not closing flush. There is a dent to the bottom of the body at the front.
