A group of 18th century armorial porcelain dishes and saucers, each painted with the crest of Viscount Malden, Earl of Essex; a 19th century pewter plate by Yates & Birch of Birmingham bearing the engraved crest of Richard Arkwright; a pewter tankard of J.R.S. Arkwright dated 1931; a photograph of 'Grandmama Looe with baby' (Charlotte Lucy Arkwright 1840 - 1904); locks of hair from J.S and J.H. Arkwright, an envelope embossed 'Hampton Court, Leominster'Formerly owned by the Coningsby family, from 1510 onwards Hampton Court Castle was inherited in 1781 by George Capel, Viscount Malden, the son of William Capel, 4th Earl of Essex. The property was sold in 1810 to Richard Arkwright (1755 - 1843) son of the inventor Richard Arkwright (1732 - 1792) and passed down the Arkwright family until 1912 when it was acquired by the Burrell family.One of the three dishes with a notable chip to rim, the larger of the two saucers with a minute nick to the underside of the footrim. The pewter with significant loss of patina. THe dishes are porcelain.

Early George II silver tankard of baluster form, with engraved initials and reeded girdle, hinged domed cover and silver scroll handle, on a circular base (London 1743) Richard Gurney & Thomas Cook. All at approximately 28ozs. 19.5cm overall height.General overall condition quite good, some minor surface wear and scratching, body has a several dents and two dings from inside, base slightly misshapen to right of handle, inside surface of body at top has some marks and appears to have been filed, no dents to cover but rim has some minor nicks. Marks on base, handle and cover slightly rubbed but legible.
A George III silver tankard, John Robins, London 1787, of plain tapering form, the flat lid with reeded thumbpiece, engraved a later armorial, 21cm high, approximately 1347g/Note: Armorial of Arkwright; Sir Richard Arkwright was one of the leading figures of the industrial revolution and has been called the "father of the modern industrial factory system" CONDITION REPORT: in overall good condition. Good set of marks under lid and to side of tankard. Although we initially catalogued the armorial as later engraved, we now believe it is contemporary to the tankard. The lid sits flush, some minor scratches in line with age and usage.
