A Georgian silver tankard, hallmarked Dublin the other marks rubbed, with central engraved crest. Weight +/- 266 grams, height 10.5 cm. (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The tankard is structurally sound and in reasonably good order. There are some minor scratches and marks to the main body but more significant denting around the widest part of the tankard. The top rim is not misshapen. The bottom rim does have three indentations and is a little out of shape. The hallmarks are as stated rubbed and a little difficult to read.

An 18th Century clear crystal glass tankard, circa 1780, of waist form with applied loop handle, with gadrooned basal moulding above a hollow knopped stem with a silver George II coin to the interior, all raised to a conical foot, height 15.cm, together with a clear crystal tumbler with basal facet cuts and an 1841 coin to the base, and another similar tumbler with a 1679 coin to the base. Of Regimental interest: A Victoria silver peg tankard for the Scots Greys, the lid engraved with thistle within a motto-bearing garter and with a Waterloo guidon finial thumbpiece. on outset ball and claw feet attached with foliage cut-card work, London 1883, by Aldwinckle & Slater and retailed by Elkington & Co., height 23.5cm. £1,500-£1,800 --- The Scots Greys (correctly: Royal North British Dragoons) are perhaps best remembered for the part they played at the Battle of Waterloo. Charging alongside the heavy cavalry (considered by some to be the turning point of the battle) they suffered severe losses (including 228 of 416 horses). however, the remnant retreated, re-formed, continued in action and, after victory was declared, pursued the retreating French until Napoleon was finally forced to surrender. Condition Report Weight 37oz, 1150 gm. Good condition.

A small amount of lateral movement in the hinge. A dent to the handle. Evidence of solder repair beneath the terminal of the handle. General surface wear and scratches to the body.
