A first period Worcester blue scale ground tankard. c.1765, with blue square seal mark and ridged loop handle, finely painted with sprays of garden flowers including roses, irises, forget-me-nots, pinks and petunias, within gilded mirror and vase shaped reserves, 4¾in. (12cm.) high, factory chip to base. * Provenance: Included in a 1949 inventory of porcelain bequeathed to Dr. John Alistair Burkhardt by his aunt, Miss Charlotte Mary Sandford of 27, The Little Boltons, South Kensington. The inventory was prepared by White Berry & Catford, Valuers, 28 Cadogan Place, SW1 and dated 3rd March 1949. A Caughley blue and white mug or tankard. c.1780, of cylindrical form with grooved loop handle, painted in underglaze blue with the `La Peche` and `La Promenade Chinoise` pattern, the base with underglaze blue `S` mark, 5¾in.
