A George III silver tankard, tapering cylindrical with upper and lower reeded sections, the domed cover with ball finial and engraved with the initial B, the handle with shell thumbpiece, the base with glass bottom, the body engraved with a tall ship possibly the Marquis of Lansdown, London, 1797, maker's mark probably that of John Robins, 19 cm high overall , 993.6 grams gross Note: By repute the initial B is that of Boulderson for Joseph (1764–1828) who joined the East India Company in 1785 and quickly rose through the rank. He was appointed Captain of the ‘Marquis of Lansdown’ in 1792 which traded between London and Calcutta.

SOUTH ATLANTIC MEDAL to S J Bentley Mercantile Marine - undertook Royal Marine Commando training. Stephen John Bentley was born on the 19th of September 1953. He left school aged 14 and joined the Training Ship HMS Indefatigable, he was trained as a Deckhand and joined the Mercantile Marine. On the 28th of November 1972, he joined the Royal Marines and undertook recruit training. On the 21st February 1973, he left recruit training and resumed his service in the Mercantile Marine. On 28th December 1975, he visited Buenos Aires and a ticket/visa is included with the group. Bentley served with the Cunard Line and may have been on SS Atlantic Causeway or SS Atlantic Conveyor. The conveyor was hit by Exocet Missiles on the 25th May 1982, killing 12 sailors. The ship later sunk undertow. A Christmas card from Cs Iris is included with the group, but it is unclear when he served on the ship. CS Iris did serve in the conflict The medal comes with a number of pieces of original ephemera, including his Royal Marine Company Record Book, letter from ROAB informing him that he has been accepted, RAOB Rules & Regulation book, Cunard line hat, Indefatigable cap tally, RFA Tie, Falkland Island tankard and photograph of the recipient as a young boy. The medal is with original box, wax packet and transmittal slip. Engraved in the correct large letter style. Condition = EF
ST IVES STUDIO POTTERY a variety of St Ives pottery, including various plates and dishes including some with celadon glazes, various jugs, tankard and mugs (most items marked, some unmarked). Including a pair of celadon glazed plates with leaf design around the rim, 6 1/2ins (16.5cms) diameter. Impressed St Ives seal mark. (23) *Inherited by Maurice Leach, Bernard Leach's adopted son. These were items used on a regular basis in Bernard's home.

A late 17th century Danish silver miniature tankard by Jens Nielsen Bach, Copenhagen 1678, the double domed cover centred by a Schlezwig-Holstein-Gottorp 1/16 Thaler 1670 and chased with flowers and foliage, a lion rampant thumbpiece, the S-scroll handle with a cartouche terminal, a broad band of flowers and foliage centred by a roundel inscribed Peder Jorgansen Quermlos/Trine Jorgens. Dater 1681, on three ball feet, later pricked H.R.S.OC, M.F.D ..802, 11cm (4 3/8in) high, 162g (5.2 oz) See Boje, Chr. A. Danske guld og sølv smedemærker før 1870, Copenhagen 1954, p. 47, fig. 209 for the maker's mark.
George II silver tankard (probably one pint size) bears hallmarks for Newcastle to the base with the date letter for 1753 - the handle has a clear Maker's mark for Isaac Cookson who worked in Newcastle between 1728 and 1754. Also has H.H.E. on the handle. We believe the handle has been repaired at some time. Weight 10oz approx.
