A Charles II silver tankard, maker's mark EG (possibly by Edward Gladwin), London 1671, of tapering cylindrical with a raised hinged cover, a scroll thumbpiece and a S-scroll handle, on a reeded foot, the cover and sides later scroll chased, the interior later gilt, 16.5cm (6 1/2in) high, 789g (25.35 oz)Jackson (3rd edition, p. 129) records a cup, two tankards, and an alms dish by this maker between 1670 and 1680. David M. Mitchell, Silversmiths in Elizabethan and Stuart London, p. 281. Condition Report Later chased and gilt inside. Cover not marked (full marks to side by handle, maker's mark to handle).

Another slight bruise to the baseline (see image). The rest of the shape is good, very minor pinpoint dings, the marks are crisp. Does not appear to have had any engravings polished out.
