A Worcester Beckoning Chinaman pattern tankard, painted with Chinaman beckoning to a brightly coloured bird in a landscape, the verso with large multi-coloured flowering branch, c.1757 Provenance: Barbara Leake Collection, Bonhams 2008, Lot 250 Condition Report: Wear and scratching to decoration. An armorial engraved glass tankard with fine silver lid, marked Augsburg, Germany, 17th C. H.: 24 cm - L.: 18 cm The arms are those of Belgian noble families "Ernst de Brunswyck" in alliance with those of "de Dieudonné", inscribed "Sine Invidia Laudem". The mug and lid probably both 17th C., the engraving probably added in the 19th C. in celebration of the marriage between Léopold Jean Gérard Alexandre Ernst and Zélie de Dieudonné in 1864.
