GWYNN PARRY JONES (1891 - 1963), known early in his career as Gwynn Jones, a Welsh tenor, this is a collection of music scores, letters and associated ephemera. Music books and scores include Tosca Puccini, Wagner, Handel, Noel Coward etc, some of which have Parry Jones' signature inside. Novello's Edition of "The Seasons" includes not only Parry Jones' stamp and signature but a letter from Ibbs & Tillett dated February 18th 1947 confirming details regarding his engagement at Rotherham Choral Society on March 20th. A score of Hungarian Folk-Music (1931) with an inscription "To Mr Parry Jones to sing when the young man is called up" signed F. Koclas. A programme for "The Henry Wood Jubilee Concert" held at the Royal Albert Hall in 1938 where Parry Jones was one of the tenors. The ephemera and letters include a 2nd World War white permit for ENSA 1940, invitations to Buckingham Palace Garden Parties, a dedicated photo from Wilfred Pickles, a few letters from 'George' Strube the cartoonist, a letter from John Barbirolli's wife Evelyn dated 1947 complaining about him not receiving an honour together with two others on the same subject, one to the private secretary of the Prime Minister, a programme for "Carmen" signed by Kiri Te Kanawa amongst othersThe collection had been left to Brian Harper, conductor and trumpet player and includes a hand written letter to him from Parry Jones dated 1961 and two hand written letters from Henry Sandon.

Further lion passant struck by the hole for the trumpet. Base is stamped with the Walker and Hall mark.A couple of minute dents to the trumpet. Very light surface abrasions. Generally appears to be in good condition.Measures 20.5ins wide at the widest point x 16.75ins high.

SILVER DISH AND VASE A pierced silver sided dish with pedestal base and stand together with a silver trumpet vase of plain form with ribbed detail, the dish hallmarked for Birmingham 1911 and standing 8cm high, diameter 14.5cm, the trumpet vase with faded Sheffield hallmark standing 14cm high approx., total weight of both 215g. 6.8 troy oz.

NEUKOMM SIGISMUND VON: (1778-1858) Austrian composer and pianist. A fine, highly attractive autograph musical manuscript signed, le Cher. Sigismond Neukomm, thirty-six pages (16 stave manuscript paper), 8vo, London, 7th February 1832. The working full-score manuscript is for Neukomm's complete work Septet ('Fantaisie concertante') in E flat, scored for trumpet, horn, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and double bass, penned in brown ink on up to two eight-stave systems per page, with an autograph title page in French, autograph foliation ('1' - '36') and with some instructions in English ('….exactly in time, not ritard…') and a number of erasures and autograph corrections. Dated at the conclusion and again signed by Neukomm with his monogram ('SN') Bound with string in the original dark brown wrappers. Some light age wear and a few minor stains to the inside pages, the paper wrappers with some minor creases and a few small tears, about VGAutograph musical manuscripts of Neukomm very seldom appear at auction, the great majority of his manuscripts now being housed in the Bibliotheque nationale in Paris. Septet was written for the Royal Philharmonic Society in 1832.
