NEUKOMM SIGISMUND VON: (1778-1858) Austrian composer and pianist. A fine, highly attractive autograph musical manuscript signed, le Cher. Sigismond Neukomm, thirty-six pages (16 stave manuscript paper), 8vo, London, 7th February 1832. The working full-score manuscript is for Neukomm's complete work Septet ('Fantaisie concertante') in E flat, scored for trumpet, horn, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and double bass, penned in brown ink on up to two eight-stave systems per page, with an autograph title page in French, autograph foliation ('1' - '36') and with some instructions in English ('….exactly in time, not ritard…') and a number of erasures and autograph corrections. Dated at the conclusion and again signed by Neukomm with his monogram ('SN') Bound with string in the original dark brown wrappers. Some light age wear and a few minor stains to the inside pages, the paper wrappers with some minor creases and a few small tears, about VGAutograph musical manuscripts of Neukomm very seldom appear at auction, the great majority of his manuscripts now being housed in the Bibliotheque nationale in Paris. Septet was written for the Royal Philharmonic Society in 1832.
ARMSTRONG LOUIS: (1901-1971) American jazz trumpeter and vocalist. A good vintage signed and inscribed 10 x 8 photograph of Armstrong in a head and shoulders pose playing his trumpet in a scene from the American documentary film Satchmo the Great (1957) which chronicled Armstrong's 1955 international tour. Signed by Armstrong in bold blue fountain pen ink across a light area of the image. One heavy crease to the upper left corner, otherwise VG Provenance: The present photograph originates from the collection of Pierre Goulliard, a French gentleman who, for over 50 years, dedicated himself to obtaining in person autographs of British, American and European movie stars, always obtaining the signatures in fountain pen ink.

A late Victorian silver centrepiece, with frosted glass trumpet shaped insert, by Cornelius Joshua Vander, of rustic fruiting vine form, on circular 'rocky' base, London, 1888, overall height 40.5cm, base weighs 19.1oz.***CONDITION REPORT***Chip to the glass on the top rim. Ca. 660-525 BC. An interesting faience New Year's flask of a lentoid body with twin arched handles flanking the trumpet-shaped spout. Both sides are decorated with a large rosette. Ca. 400 AD. A gold finger ring comprising a round hoop with a slightly carinated profile, expanding shoulders, and a trumpet-shaped bezel set with a garnet intaglio depicting a right-facing profile of possibly God Hermes wearing petasos, a low-brimmed hat worn in ancient Greece. A petasos with wings (along with winged sandals) donated by Zeus became an attribute of Hermes as a messenger of the gods. A LARGE FAMILLE VERTE 'EIGHT IMMORTALS' VASE, YUHUCHUNPING, 18TH - 19TH CENTURYChina. Of pear shape, rising from a short foot to a trumpet neck, with a rib around the lower neck. Painted in bright enamels and iron red with a procession of the eight immortals along with their attributes and mythical creatures. The neck further decorated with butterflies and a bat, and a diaper-patterned band with blossoms below the rim. The base with a double circle in underglaze blue.Provenance: British trade. Condition: Good condition with old wear, flaking to enamels, a minuscule hole at the center of the base, with associated minor hairlines. Some firing flaws including pitting, glaze bosses and scattered dark spots.
