Gold Dresden cup - finial restored but will need to be redone, otherwise condition appears fair. Spode-type trumpet vase - small foot rim chip, gilding rubbed. Grainger mug - 2 filled rim chips. Flower encrusted vases - some chips to flowers.

A large bronze openwork plaque with D-section rim and mesh of trumpet and comma-leaf motifs in a regular layout; pierced in three places for attachment. 274 grams, 11cm (4 1/4"). Very fine condition. Property of a Surrey, UK, gentleman; formerly in a German collection; formed in the 1980s and 1990s. Cf. Mitten, D. and Doeringer, S. Master Bronzes from the Classical World, Mainz, 1967, p. 312, item 314b, for a similar example from the Seattle Art Museum, accession number CeTe 6.2.

A substantial bronze discoid mount with a triskele of openwork La Tène inspired trumpet motifs within a stepped frame; pierced in three places for attachment; mounted on a custom-made stand. 306 grams including stand, 10.1cm (4"). Very fine condition. Property of an East London collector; acquired in the 1970s. Cf. Appels, A. & Laycock, S. Roman Buckles and Military Fittings, Witham, 2007, item AA9.6.

A mixed group of bronze brooches and fibulas comprising: a La Tène 1 fibula ‘Wessex Type’ (pin absent) with remains of iron spindle; a La Tène III, Hull type 19 fibula with openwork catch plate; a La Tène III fibula fragment with offset vertical decorative groove on upper section; a Nauheim-derivative type brooch (pin and spring absent); a La Tène II fibula; a composite brooch with dark enamel crescent and white enamel central lozenge (mostly lost), zoomorphic terminal, pin detached; a Colchester-type two-piece brooch with median ridge and tremolier ornament; a hinge-headed brooch with orange enamel (pin absent); a trumpet-headed 'fly' brooch with red enamel inlay and some tinning (pin absent); a plate brooch with pierced quatrefoil, some tinning and gilding, pellet detailing. 40 grams total, 40-46mm (1 1/2 - 1 3/4"). A collection of thirty-four bronze bow brooches including Colchester, Polden Hill, Trumpet, Aucissa, Hod Hill, Knee and P-shaped types; with a crescentic plate brooch. 234 grams total, 31-76mm (1 1/4 - 3"). 2nd-3rd century AD. A bronze plate brooch with openwork La Tène style trumpet-whorl; hinged pin to the reverse. 15 grams, 43mm (1 3/4"). [No Reserve] Fine condition. 2nd-3rd century AD. A group of buckles and belt mount consisting of two propeller shaped belt stiffeners; a large circular stud with concentric lines; a belt stud with Celtic scrolled trumpet motif; a scrolled buckle with attached belt plate with wavy line decoration on the border; a D-shaped openwork buckle with scrolled decoration; a D-shaped openwork buckle with scrolled decoration. 66 grams, 35-80mm (1 1/2 - 3 1/4").[7, No Reserve] Fine condition. Acquired on the UK art market before 2000.

A hollow terracotta vessel formed as a bull with four tapering legs, tubular spout to the muzzle, pellet eyes with scrolled horns, strap handle and trumpet-shaped filler hole to the upper back. 776 grams, 21cm (8 1/4"). Fine condition, chipped. Property of a North London gentleman; formerly with a Mayfair gallery in the 1980s.

A D-section silver hoop with notched edges and pad to the underside, flat-section sloping shoulders, trumpet-shaped octagonal bezel with intaglio lion passant regardant. 12 grams, 29mm overall, 19.02mm internal diameter (approximate size British R 1/2, USA 9, Europe 19.69, Japan 19) (1 1/4"). [No Reserve] Very fine condition. A large wearable size. Property of a Surrey collector; acquired in the early 1970s.

A D-section gold hoop with raised fronds to the shoulders, octagonal-section trumpet bezel with insert rock crystal; italic inscription to the inner face 'Nothinge like True Loue'. 3.18 grams, 25mm overall, 17.92mm internal diameter (approximate size British P, USA 7 1/2, Europe 16.23, Japan 15) (1"). Fine condition. Property of a Suffolk lady; acquired on the UK art market.
11th-8th century BC. A bifacial ceramic costrel with pierced lugs to the shoulders, trumpet-shaped neck and rim; ochre painted concentric circles with radiating geometric motifs. 411 grams, 15cm (6"). Fine condition, abraded. Property of a North London gentleman; formerly with a Mayfair gallery in the 1980s. Cf. Karageorghis, V. Ancient Art from Cyprus: The Cesnola Collection in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2000, p. 78, for a similar vessel. Known as lentoid flasks, this style is typical of Cypriot wares from the Cypro-Geometric Period. Studies have concluded that the form is derived from Mycenaean types but with decorative schemes that are influenced by the Levant, particularly pottery from the ancient Palestinian city of Megiddo. This mixing of styles is typical of Cyprus which was an important crossroads between the ancient civilisations of the east and west.

CONDITION REPORT: No major damage visible to any part. Some surface wear, tiny scratches. Some dirt. Tarnish to metal mounts, mounting of one of the liners needs re-attaching.
