The lightly stained ivory bearing a superb patina, particularly to the underside which is warm and honey-yellow. The cord attachment is formed by a small trumpet conch underneath. The banner is embroidered with three blue and gold lion emblems representing the dominion of King Edward III. The instrument and banner both exhibit intentional distressing by production to appear antique with tarnishing and grime applied.
