Robertson's Gollies have been collected by people across the UK and around the world for generations but garnered a contentious image in the 1980s because of links to racism. The trademark was removed from Robertson's branding in 2001.

Mounted with a woolwork banner featuring a central cross and four sheaves of wheat, with brown cord tassels. 68cm. Joseph Battersby Duckworth 1847-1912 was a successful cotton trader and business man with interests in America and throughout the Empire. It is thought by the descendants who are offering this item for sale that it may well originate from his time as High Sheriff of Cheshire.
