A late-Victorian novelty silver cracker pin cushion and sewing box, by Gibson and Langman, London 1898, also marked with a registration number, the ends of the cracker with worn velvet pin cushions, the central section with a hinged compartment, the cover mounted with a lady with a flute and a gentleman with a trumpet, length 16.8cm, approx. weight 3.4oz.

A pair of Edwardian silver trumpet shaped hammered silver vases in the Art Nouveau style of Archibald Knox (by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd, London 1907), 393 g, 12.6 oz troy CONDITION REPORTS Size 19.5 cm high x 7.6 cm diameter. Rims with some denting and scratching. Bases of the trumpets with cracking right through. Join on both vases quite clear due to the oxidisation which may appear better with a clean. A Moorcroft pomegranate trumpet shaped vase stamped "Moorcroft Burslem England" and signed "W Moorcroft" to base 21.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Appears to be in sound condition throughout though with some craquelure to the glaze on the rim and a hairline crack to the foot in two areas, the result of contact to the very edge of the rim though the piece has not been dislodged. Otherwise only wear to the base of the foot conducive with age and use. Under ultraviolet there is no sign of restoration
EARLY SPODE TUREEN an early 19thc lidded tureen and stand, Pattern 882, painted with sprays of flowers and gilt scales and with a gilded handle. Also with a 19thc botanical two handled dish, painted to the interior and exterior and marked underneath Great Sun Flower, Ash Leaved Trumpet Flower, handle broken and loose, 32cms across. Tureen stand 24cms across, Tureen 17.5cms across. (2)

Adorned in famille rose enamels with a lady and boys as well as two bats. Also inscribed with calligraphies, possibly signing it with an artist’s name. A FAMILLE ROSE 'HUNDRED BATS' AND'HONGFU QITIAN 洪福齊天'GLOBULAR TRUMPET-NECKED VASE, TIANQIUPINGGuangxu six-character mark and of the periodBrightly enamelled with a profusion of iron-red bats in flight amidst multicoloured lingzhi clouds, between a band of ruyi heads at the rim and upright lappets around the foot, divided at the shoulder by a band of lotus sprays alternating with gilt shou characters on the shoulder above a gilt relief border.H: 40 cmNotes:1. Represented in conjunction with the character shou 壽, meaning longevity, and blossoming lotuses, symbolising fertility, bats are homophone with the word for happiness 福. Combined with coloured clouds, symbolic of luck, red bats were also regarded as representing the upper limits of heaven, generating the pun 'Vast happiness piled up to the sky', hongfu qitian 洪福齊天.2. Compare with an identical vase sold at BONHAM'S London, 2017/05/11, lot 218, for €19,071. Also compare with another identical vase sold in the same rooms, 2012/05/17, lot 359 for €13.936.3. An shell inlaid trunk, 20th century, with an iron handle to either end, with geometric decoration, 95cm wide, 48cm deep, 35cm high, together with two similarly decorated occasional tables, one 60 x 56 x 67cm, the other a trumpet form work table, 44cm wide x 70cm high (3)Condition report: all later decorated and refinished, the trumpet form table with old damages and alterations to the lid and legs, the interior also with alterations, the trunk with hinge replaced and knocks and dents, the squre table slightly wobbly with knocks dents and loses.

He devoted his life to public service and building the firm into a global brand and was made an Honorary Freeman of the city of Norwich in 1893.

A Clarkes patient Cricklite ormolu mounted clear glass seven light table candelabrum, each bell shaped shade supported on a scrolling wirework arm from a lotus cast tapered octagonal column, the socle with trumpet shaped specimen flower vases, spreading circular base, Lion paw feet, 79cm high, c.1890Samuel Clarke, one of several English designers of lighting devices, patented a glass cup covered with a dome on December 14th 1885. His company promoted the lamps as a way to sell there own candles. Clarkes original lamps feature a fairy embossed into the bottom as can be seen in these examples. They became so popular that all small candle-based lamps became know as fairy lamps. Queen Victoria reportedly purchase 1500 of his fairy lamps for her own use.Provenance: Christies sale, London, c.1995
