A fine late 18th century steel barrelled flintlock Sea Service blunderbuss, 39” overall, swamped barrel 23” with London proofs, Ordnance inspector’s mark and retaining traces of original blackened finish; rounded musket size lock with swan neck cock, the plate bearing inspector’s mark and engraved “Brooks” and “Tower”, pale walnut fullstock with Sea Service pattern mounts comprising flat butt plate, early style trigger guard with bulbous finial, flat wavy side plate and plain trumpet shaped ramrod pipe, original wooden ramrod with brass button tip (slightly shortened).
