Scott 50th Lanarkshire (Press) Rifle Corps by numerous friends as a mark of respect, Glasgow 24th March 1860, length of blade 82cm with shark skin grip with twist wire decoration, with chromed pierced guard decorated with the Light Infantry horn surmounted by a crown, complete with matching chrome scabbard, also with this lot is a book entitled 'The Red Hose, a tale of Upper Clydesdale', by William Scott, published London and Manchester by John Heywood 1879, with inscription 'to Agnes M Scott with the kind and never dying love of her affectionate father, the author September 30th 1879', William Scott was the recipient of this sword

A Geo V rifle officer’s sword, straight fullered blade 32½”, by Fenton Brothers Ltd, Sheffield, Sword Cutlers to the War Office, etched with crowned R Arms, GVR cypher and wreath within scrolled panels, regulation hilt incorporating crowned strung bugle, plain pommel, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in its leather FS scabbard with frog. Evidently GC (needs cleaning)
An 1827 pattern officer’s sword of the 42nd W Yorks Rifle Volunteers (Haworth), slightly curved, fullered blade 32½”, etched with crown, strung bugle “XLII WYR (script) Volunteers (caps)” wreath and crossed flags in panels, regulation steel hilt incorporating crowned strung bugle, stepped pommel, plain backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, in steel scabbard with 2 rings. Basically GC (some wear and pitting)
A.177” BSA “Club Special” underlever air rifle, 45¼” overall, barrel 19½”, with single screw trigger block and trigger adjuster through trigger guard, walnut butt with semi pistol grip and impressed chequering, totally devoid of any markings or serial number apart from retailer’s name “C & H Weston, Brighton” stamped on underside of the butt. GWO & C, with what appears to be some original finish to trigger block and guard (other parts with dark age patina, the underlever pivot pin hammered).
An 8mm x 58R Swedish Remington rolling block rifle, number 5389, 46½” overall, barrel 30¼” with recent B’ham nitro proofs, the breech stamped with crowned “C” (Carol XV) and “J B- G M”, the action stamped “H. 1874, converted for sporting use by reducing the fore end to half stock and adding sling swivels, the tang drilled to take extra rearsight. GWO & C, the barrel retaining much blueing, the frame with colour hardening. Note: this is an exempt calibre and does not require a firearms licence.
An Indian made mid 19th century 20 bore rifle style percussion ball gun, 45” overall, smooth bore octagonal twist barrel 28¾” with Nepalese markings at the breech and with simple sights, the trade lock engraved with scrolls and stamped “W Greener”, halfstocked with engraved steel mounts and sling swivels. GWO & C (slightly worn overall, no ramrod). Plate 16
A.577” Volunteer 2 band Snider rifle, 49” overall, barrel 30½” with B’ham proofs, the lock with no visible markings, with plain light walnut fullstock, regulation brass mounts, sling swivels, and steel ramrod, the buttplate tang engraved “5”. GWO & basically GC (all steel parts have been pitted and cleaned)
A.577/450” Martini Henry Mark III rifle, 49½” overall, barrel 33¼”, the action marked with crown over “V R/ BSA & M Co/ 1885/ III/I”, with pale walnut stock, sling swivels and correct type steel cleaning rod. GWO & C (stock cleaned and varnished, metalwork reblued, top barrel band retaining screws missing). Plate 16
