A modern “Ideal” mould for .575” (.577”) hollow base bullet, with base plug; 3 pistol size steel pincer moulds (pitted); a rifle cleaning kit in tin, the tin dated 1945, stripping tool dated 1959; a small cleaning rod; 2 reproduction bag shaped copper pistol flasks; and 2 other items. Generally GC, in a beech wood box.

An interesting boy's 120 bore percussion rifle made for the American market, 32” overall, thick browned half octagonal barrel 17” with dove tailed brass fore sight (part of the rear sight missing); with scroll engraved back action lock and hammer, the plate stamped “Lane & Read, Boston”; walnut half stock with Kentucky style butt, the scrolled trigger guard, deep butt plate, escutcheon and barrel wedge plates of German silver, the fore end cap of grey metal (pewter?). GWO & Clean Condition, the barrel retaining most original browned finish (small repair to heel of butt, ramrod missing). Stockel lists Lane & Read of Boston as being “Grosshandler und Importeur von Gewehren” (wholesale and importer of rifles), c 1826-49. Plate 10

A .577” 1853 pattern Volunteer Enfield 3 band percussion rifle by London Armoury Co, 55” overall, barrel 39” with ordnance proofs and “L.A.C.” mark; the plain unlined lock bearing crown over VR and 1861 over “L.A.Co”; walnut fullstock with regulation brass mounts, sling swivels with original leather sling, original steel ramrod and nipple protector attached by chain to the lower sling swivel; with its triangular socket bayonet by F Preston, Manchester, in its brass mounted leather scabbard. GWO & untouched condition, the barrel retaining some original blued finish, the bayonet with some surface rust, and with age patina overall (bayonet will not fully slide over the muzzle) Plate 10

Lot 858

A .22” bolt action pre charged compressed air rifle, 40” overall including silencer, barrel 16½” (excluding silencer), with walnut target stock having cheek piece and chequered pistol grip with thumb hole, large air cylinder beneath barrel, and charger valve beneath the fore end, fitted with Tasco 6-24 x 40 telescopic sight. GC, retaining nearly all original black finish (air cylinder scratched and worn); with a 13kg aqua lung cylinder with charging adaptor, fleece lined weatherproof slip case, and another slip case.

A scarce .177” BSA “Piled Arms Centenary” underlever air rifle, number C0758, modelled on the Airsporter 5 but with pale walnut three quarter stock having contrasting fore end tip, cheek piece, chequered panels to fore end and pistol grip, and other refinements, the air chamber marked “BSA Piled Arms Centenary 1982-One of One Thousand”, with fully adjustable rearsight, the fore sight removed and fitted and Accuray 4.32 telescopic sight, with sling swivels and original leather sling. GWO & Clean Condition (the paint peeling from aluminium breech plug); with its original BSA de Luxe thickly padded leather cover bearing One of One Thousand inscription (minor wear and small tear to leather). Production of this rifle was strictly limited to 1000. Gun only Plate 10
