To the front, an EVRC cypher surmounted by a strung bugle. Two bands of mohair lace around the helmet. The interior with leather sweatband tailor's label of "C.W. Allis Tailor Eton" VGC ... Housed in metal storage tin. Illustrated on Bosleys online catalogue.Raised as 8th Buckinghamshire RVC in 1860, reformed as 2nd Bucks (Eton College) Rifle Volunteers 15th June 1878. December 1887 redesigned 4th (Eton College) VB Oxfordshire Light Infantry, 1902 reverted to 2nd Bucks.

To the front a Victorian Regimental pattern helmet plate bearing the title to the strap, "Hertfordshire Rifle Volunteers" The plate retains original scarlet cloth backing material. The interior with leather sweatband. The helmet with some age wear and drying to the leather. One or two small moth holes and nips. Remains a good display item
Victorian Oxford University Rifle Volunteers Tunic.A scarce mid 19th century pre 1880 example. The tunic is of light Elcho grey with plaited blue cord Austrian knots to the cuffs. The cord is repeated to the edging of the collar and to the plaited shoulder cords and to the back. The collar is with a single bullion crown denoting Lieutenant. Complete with blackened regimental pattern buttons. The interior is with light brown cotton lining.

Victorian 1st Buckingham Rifles Volunteers Officer's Sword.A good late Victorian example of the regulation pattern. The blade is with etched decoration of a stung bugle, 1st Bucks Rifle Volrs and an entwined Crowned VR cypher. The blade is also decorated with entwined initials "JS" Polished open guard with strung bugle device, shagreen covered grip, with twist wire binding. Housed in original steel scabbard. The sword is in clean condition, blade and etching clear, some surface pitting to hilt and scabbard.Possibly the sword of Medical Officer Surgeon Lieutenant J. Shaw appointed June 1896.
Edwardian 7th Middlesex Rifle Volunteers The London Scottish Attributed Officer's Broadsword.A very fine example by Wilkinson of London bearing the blade number "40894" (1906). The straight blade with central fuller is etched with a EVIIR cypher, the full regimental title and also with an Armourial crest and initials "C.J.L.". The hilt with full basket, retaining scarlet lining and crimson tassels. Housed in polished black leather scabbard with plated chape. Near Parade Condition.Attributed to Major C.J. Low DSO who was appointed Lt in December 1909. He served with the 1st Bn as a Company Commander during the Great War and was with the Regiment on the first day of the Battle of Loos and the Somme. His papers are held by the Imperial War Museum.
Victorian London Scottish Officer's Broadsword.A good and rare example. The straight double edged blade with central double fullers. Engraved with a crowned reverse entwined VR cypher and the regimental title "London Scottish Rifle Vols.". The forte with the retailer's details of Meyer & Mortimer. The hilt of the regulation pattern with full basket gaurd retaining scarlet cloth lining and crimson tassels. Housed in polished brown leather scabbard with plated chape. Overall GC etching clear slight age wear.
1876 1st Bucks Rifle Volunteers Special Pattern Presentation Sword.This fine specially commissioned sword was presented to Captain Alfred Selfe who Commanded the unit. The sword with a single edged slightly curved blade, this with etched decoration of a crowned reverse entwined VR cypher. The reverse with presentation "PRESENTED TO CAPT SELFE BY HIS COMRADES OF No.4 COMPANY 1ST BUCKS R.V. JULY 1876". The hilt with a gilt brass pierced guard, this with scrolling floral decoration with is repeated to the gilt back strap. The shagreen grip retains twist wire binding. Housed in plated scabbard with rich gilt mounts, these depicting crossed flags. Good bright condition, slight age wear to the gilt finish.Captain Alfred Selfe was commissioned a Lieutenant in the 4th Bucks Rifle Volunteer Corps in 1861, Captain and Commanding Officer of the 4th in 1862. He remained with the unit after it became the 1st Bucks Rifle Volunteers in 1875 and retired in 1877.
1st (Salisbury) Wiltshire Rifle Volunteers 1861 Officer's Sword by Wilkinson of London.A good example, the single edged blade with crowned VR cypher and to the obverse the regimental title "1st Wiltshire Rifles", this complemented with a strung bugle and the owners initials of "E.D.F". The forte with cutler's details and the back of the blade with the number 11038 (1861). The hilt with the unusual feature of a Light Cavalry three bar open guard, shagreen grip with diamond cut pommel. Housed in polished steel scabbard. Overall GC etching clear minor age wear.Formed 18th August 1859 Attributed to Lt Edward D Fisher appointed 20th April 1861

A pair of portrait photographs of Annie Oakley, circa 1890s, both Woodburytypes, pasted on card, the first full length with cowboy hat and rifles, standing beside a small table with medals and pistols, some creasing and small nicks to lower margin, 14 x 9.5 cm, the second half length with cowboy hat and medals on her chest, several creases and diagonal split without loss to lower left corner, small chips with loss to both right-hand corners, 14.5 x 9.5 cm, plus a third Woodburytype of similar period showing a group of Native American performers from Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, sitting on a rocky outcrop with Annie Oakley standing full length higher up behind them, with hat and rifle, some creasing and one small split without loss, small chip with loss to left margin and lower right corner, pasted on card, 10 x 14.5 cm A rare group of photographs of 'Little Miss Sure Shot'.
