Gallantry Group, awarded to 18-826 Sergeant Ernest Clifford Powell of the Durham Light Infantry, comprising DCM, 1914/15 Star, BWM and Victory Medal, with cap badge, brass shoulder titles and collar badges, all mounted in a display frame, together with framed citations and related ephemera; two miniature Rifle Association Medals; a Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee medallion. **Sergeant Powell was immediately awarded his DCM whilst advancing Ploegsteert Wood on 28th September 1918. His platoon came under heavy enemy fire, and under his own initiative he took out an enemy emplacement, whilst holding his platoons advanced position. Despite being wounded, he refused to leave the field
