A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE MID TO LATE 19TH CENTURY BLACK FOREST CARVED PINE CUCKOO CLOCK with stags head, rifle and oak leaf crest over the clock, case with game, hunting horn and hunting bag decoration, the dial with ivorine Roman numerals, the two train movement with a fusee, 62cm wide x 100cm high overall (pendulum lacking)
British Commemorative Medallions (5): QV Jubilee 1897 large silver GVF (edge knock) cased, similar in copper aEF cased, Edward VII Coronation 1902 large bronze patchy nEF cased, GV Jubilee 1935 small silver VF boxed, and a Wolseley Cup Rifle Club medal 1907 to PTE A. Kirke Smith (an interesting large bronze cross-shaped piece) EF cased.
Bayonet: Pattern 1875 sword bayonet 2nd Type. Blade 22.75" which is longer than the standard issues. Vendor states a New South Wales volunteer bayonet. This would appear to be the Henry sword bayonet (Skennerton P271). This was a German made bayonet for the Martini Henry rifle in Australian use. Good condition.
Bayonet: Unidentified European Yataghan blade sword bayonet possibly for a cadet rifle? 'A.O.F.' stamped to pommel. Blade 22.5". Leather chequered grip. This bayonet is quite light and has a smaller than usual grip, hence possible cadet usage. Based on the British P1856 design. Overall in good condition. (Possibly a Japanese P1856 British pattern?)
Bayonets: British bayonets for the No4 .303 Enfield Service Rifle: No9 MKI for the No4 rifle & Sten? in its steel scabbard with frog. Good condition. No4 MKII 5 (Singer/Savage). In its steel scabbard. Light wear overall. Plus a Naval Jack knife, plus a Belgian F.A.L. Bayonet Model 1963 for the South African R2 & R3 Assault rifles. In its steel scabbard with frog marked 'G. Tollman'. Very good condition overall. (4)
Revolver: A Tranter's Patent .230 Cal pocket revolver. Single action. Frame marked 'Tranter's Patent' & SN: 39049. Brass frame with acanthus scrolling. Barrel 2" engraved 'H.W. EGG. No 1 Piccadilly London'. Brass buttplate with cartridge ejector rod. One piece ivory grip steel trigger guard. Deactivated with certificate. Contained in its fitted polished mahogany? maker's case with trade label for Henry Egg. Gun, Rifle and Pistol manufacturer to the Royal Family. Oil brush and cleaning bristle brush A note included from the vendor stating the revolver was used on stage at the Stretford Empire during his music hall act. Also a former Equerry to King Edward VII. Pistol dates from end of 19th century. A fine lot with an interesting provenance. (Box no key & lacks keyhole escutcheon)
Rifle: A good .303 cal Martini - Enfield service rifle. Right side of action marked: 'CROWN V.R. ENFIELD, 1881, III, I.' The left hand side of the action marked: 'V.R. ENFIELD, 1895, ME .303'. All parts WD marked. Good walnut stock stamped with Enfield store keepers marks and sold out of service stamp. Brass marker disc. In V.G.W.O and condition (foresight blade and butt swivel missing). Long cocking indicator. Fading blue finish. Nice rifle.
Rifle: A Nazi WW2 KAr 98K Service Rifle. Breech marked 'byf '43'. In excellent overall condition with leather sling. Cleaning rod missing, 'byf' code used on rifles produced by Mauser-Oberndorf in 1943. (1,422,336 produced). Calibre 7.9mm. Good working and condition with certificate of deactivation.
Rifle: A Portuguese 8mm Vergueiro model 1904 service rifle. Made by DWM Berlin circa 1904-10 in 6.5mm. Crest of King D. CARLOS to top of chamber. The Portuguese used this rifle in WW1 in Angola & Mozambique (SMLE in Europe). This original 6.5mm rifle was converted to 8mm in 1937. In very good working order and condition. With its certificate of deactivation.
Rifle: A scarce Great War Imperial German Geweht 98 7.92mm Service rifle. Breech dated 'SPANDAU 1916'. Receiver marked in 'FRAKTUR' 'GEN98'. Serial number 5867 to breech, stock and magazine plate. Original beech stock with Imperial Govt. inspection marks to buttstock. Matching straight bolt no 5867 in good working order and condition. Complete with certificate. (Light pitting to metalwork). *Note virtually ALL GEW 98s found in this country are battle trophies.
Rifle: An early 19th Century Indian JEZAIL rifle. Long barrel 44" EIC marked 'Brown Bess' lock signed 'MORTIMER' (screw absent). Decorated Indian Hardwood stock (some repairs). Brass barrel bands. Lock in working order. This gun has had a long and hard working life possibly spanning 18th & 19th centuries. This is a good example of a genuine working gun and would restore well. GWO and condition. (Some loss to woodwork below lock). Buyer collects
