A hand painted Vietnamese propaganda poster, circa 1970's, "The Liberation Front of the South Vietnamese people is the true representative of the South Vietnamese people, depicting 3/4 length profile of a Vietnamese female wearing a helmet and a scarf of the National Liberation Front (Viet Cong), lilac coloured dress and holding a rifle, all before a stylised red and ochre sun, gouache on paper, 68.5 cm x 46 cm (see illustration).

A deactivated 6.5mm x 55mm Sniper's rifle by Carl Gustaf, Serial No. 219339, manufactured in 1908, the 30ins blued steel barrel with elevated sights, bright steel bolt action, fully stocked, steel butt plate, 49.5ins overall, sights with current specification European Certificate of Deactivation.
A rare and interesting 19th century Doulton Lambeth made silver topped drinking tankard. Doulton Lambeth stamp to base, with a hallmarked silver rim to top - hallmarked for London, 1897 (makers mark partially obscured, possibly: Charles Henry Dumeni). The silver band engraved ' Perham Down Camp, Salisbury Plain, June 1900, LRB Guard Mounting Competition Won By ' A ' Company - SV Figg, Private '. ' LRB ' likely referring to the ' London Rifle Brigade '. The stoneware tankard measures approx; 13cm tall. No cracks / repairs, very good condition for age.
A Vic Rifle officer’s sword, slightly curved blade 32½”, by Brown & Co London, etched with crowned R Cypher, crowned strung bugle, in scrolled panels, regulation hilt incorporating crowned strung bugle, wirebound fishskin grip, in steel scabbard with 2 rings. Basically GC (dark rust patina to hilt and scabbard).
A leather leg’ o’ mutton gun case for a DB gun with up to 30” barrels, with brass lock, carrying handle and shoulder strap (no key); a leather cartridge belt for 25x20 bore cartridges; 3 adjustable leather rifle slings; and 6 leather shotgun barrel grips (2x 20 bore and 1 x 28 bore by Holland & Holland, and 3 various 12 bore). A .22” BSA “Standard” underlever air rifle, 45½” overall, barrel 19¼”, number S46685 (1930), with 3 hole trigger block, the walnut butt with impressed chequered panels. GWO & basically GC (lightly pitted overall, the butt worn and bruised, bolt access cover missing from butt, no markings visible).
A .451” Whitworth 3 band percussion target rifle, 52” overall, barrel 36” with Whitworth hexagonal rifling, the breech bearing B’ham 52 bore proofs, serial number “C 832” and engraved “Whitworth Patent”, with folding ladder rearsight graduated from 100 to 1100 yards and the base only of the adjustable fore sight; the bolted lock bearing Whitworth crest over “W” and engraved “Whitworth Rifle Co Manchester”; dark walnut fullstock with deeply chequered fore end grip and wrist, plain steel mounts, the trigger guard strap engraved “Best”, and sling swivels. GWO & C, the metalwork with dark patina (some congealed oil or varnish overall, no ramrod). Plate 8
LUDWIG II OF BAVARIA: (1845-1886) King of Bavaria 1864-86. Called the Fairy Tale King for his extravagant artistic and architectural projects, he is also remembered as the devoted patron of the composer Richard Wagner. D.S., Ludwig, one page, folio, Munich, 26th December 1867, in German. The partially printed document shows a very attractive heading "Ludwig II by Grace of God, King of Bavaria", and states in part `We appoint former regiment´s quartermaster of the rifle manufacture board, Heinrich Petzl, as War Commissioner in the Military Chamber, and this because of his services and oath duties. Granted to him by this patent, with our Highest Signature, and with the seal of the war ministry…´ The document bears beneath the Emperor´s signature a large and attractive Imperial paper seal affixed, with embossed coat of arms and title "Ludovicus II". Countersigned by the Secretary General of His Majesty. With blank integral leaf. Folded. VG £500-800
STALIN JOSEPH: (1878-1953) Soviet Dictator. Leader of the Soviet Union as General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party 1922-52. Rare A.N.S., `J. Stalin´, one page, 8vo, Moscow, 9th March 1930, in Cyrillic. The document bears the printed heading “Office Memorandum - Assistant Commander of the Artillery Regiment of the Moscow Proletarian Rifle Division”. Rare autograph note by Stalin, `I don´t need this document. Let it remain in the archive of the October Revolution.´ Boldly written response by Stalin in blue pencil, beneath the red ink written text stating `I hereby confirm that comrade Voronin served with me in the artillery battalion of the 58th rifle division in 1921´. Very small creasing to the borders, otherwise G £8000-12000
