A brass bound leather bound oak three section cartridge magazine, bearing initials to outside "A.W.A-D" and various old luggage labels, together with a label to interior inscribed "James Purdey & Sons Gun & Rifle Makers ..... London" CONDITION REPORTS Size approx. 37 x 25 cm x 16 cm high. Overall with wear and scuffs, various painted initials and stuck on paper labels, straps missing, wear to handle, interior fabric has moth holes and there are some losses to the leather straps, and some cracks and wear to leather straps.
A brass bound leather covered five section cartridge magazine, bearing leather trade label to interior inscribed "W W Greener Gun, Rifle and Ammunition Maker .....68 Haymarket, London SW" CONDITION REPORTS Size approx. 41 cm x 33 cm x 16 cm high. Overall with wear, scuffs, scratches, stains, knocks and bumps to edges, some mis-shaping, leather hinge replaced and repaired, some areas of chipping and losses to leather, straps missing, handle appears to have been repaired/replaced, interior with various biro and pencil inscriptions, dirt and wear, straps missing, some buckle sections missing, and some dividers missing.
British Army Instructional Poster “Look Is It Loaded?”, GS poster no31 marked to the bottom. Poster shows a British soldier inspecting a rifle with a skeleton behind him. Lower section of the poster says “Accidents will happen unless you ensure that magazine and chamber are empty”. Tear to the middle of the poster and wear to the edges.
Scarce Crested China Model of a Flaming Hand Grenade with crest of 1st Foot The Royal Scots, manufactured by Aynsley England. Accompanied by figure of Our Brave Defender with crest of Ramsgate. The end of the rifle is missing. Marked to the base “Souvenir from the Imperial Bazaar Albion Hill, Ramsgate Twice wrecked by Zepplins May17th 1915 and June 17th 1917”. Generally good condition. Victorian South African Oudtshoorn Rifle Volunteers Helmet Plate of two piece construction. The plate has three lug fittings to the reverse. Plate remains in good overall condition. ** Oudtshoorn Rifle Volunteers were a small volunteer unit that was raised in the western rural districts of the Cape Colony in the late 1880’s. They served during the Anglo Boer War and served up until 1913, when they were embodied into the Citizen force.
