Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque 2nd Battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps 1915 Casualty, awarded to ‘THOMAS EDMONDSON’, good overall condition. Y/299 Rifleman Thomas Edmondson, a resident of Liverpool, he was killed in action on 10th January 1915 whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Thomas Edmondson is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France.

Victorian Campaign Medal Pair for Service in India with the 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade, India General Service medal 1854-95 with clasp North West Frontier, impressed naming, “397 PTE F. GREENER. 3RD BN RIF. BDE”, some contact marks to medal, Indian Mutiny medal with clasp Lucknow, impressed naming, “FRANS. GREENES. 3RD BN RIFLE BDE”, note spelling difference. The pair of medals fitted onto an attractive double size white medal ribbon bar. Francis Greener is confirmed on the roll for the IGS with North West frontier clasp, he is also confirmed on the Mutiny medal roll for the 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade which also confirms he was present in the operations against Lucknow between the 2nd and 16th March 1858. He is noted on the IGS roll as being discharged on 3rd July 1865.

Cut down early pattern blade with fuller going all the way to the point. Blade with issue stamps and date 1942. Generally good condition.

Canadian Ross Rifle Bayonet MkII, with two piece wooden grips, steel pommel stamped with Ross Rifle Co Quebec patent details, other side stamped with Canadian broad arrow and ‘II 5/1 16’. Housed in brown leather covered scabbard with fixed bayonet belt frog. The scabbard with stampings for date 1916 ‘R.R.C’ Canadian broad arrow and ‘MK.II’. Standard knife blade with sharpened point. Blade 25 ½ cms, overall 40 ½ cms.

Lot 327

British Post War L1A3 Bayonet and Mk 5 Scabbard, this has the early model L1A3 blade with the long fuller, and the waisted crosspiece. The hilt is marked: L1A3 9600257, which is the NATO designation for this weapon. The blade has been highly polished and the hilt and scabbard have been painted gloss black for parade use by a British infantry battalion in the 1970s. The accompanying white nylon frog was for parade use. This bayonet fitted the Self Loading Rifle.

With a canvas slip and a quantity of accessories and pellets. *CR Good condition with only slight nicks and scuffs to stock which is slightly loose, surfaces cleaned.

A Rifle Officer's sword with an 81cm pointed and partially fullered blade with King's Crown above interlaced initials, and owners initials of 'P.H.K.', marked to the ricasso for Robert Mole, Birmingham, Makers to the War and India Offices, numbered M3008 to the back, with pierced guard decorated with a slung bugle, wire bound grip and domed pommel, in a plated scabbard with twin ring suspension. With a leather sword knot. 102cm. And a sword with a slightly curved 88cm sharpened and pointed blade with a primitive handle, 101cm. (2). *CR Blade nice, grip and scabbard showing signs of corrosion and light rust. Second in poor 'relic' condition.
